Relative Humidity

Humidity is the concentration of water vapor in the air, which affects the likelihood of precipitation, dew, or fog. Relative humidity (RH) measures the actual water vapor present relative to the maximum amount the air can hold at its temperature. RH can change by adjusting the water vapor amount or the air temperature, with warm air holding more moisture than cool air.

RELATIVE

HUMIDITY
HUMIDITY
Humidity is the concentration of water
vapor present in the air. Water vapor,
the gaseous state of water, is generally
invisible to the human eye. Humidity
indicates the likelihood for precipitation,
dew, or fog to be present.
What is Relative
Humidity?
Relative humidity (RH) (expressed as a percent)
also measures water vapor, but RELATIVE to
the temperature of the air. In other words, it is
a measure of the actual amount of water vapor
in the air compared to the total amount of
vapor that can exist in the air at its current
temperature.
The relative humidity
can change in 2 ways

1. Adjusting the amount of water vapor

in the air
2. Changing the temperature in the air
At night, temperatures decrease, and
during the day, they typically increase.
Warm air can hold more water vapor
than cool air, and if no additional
moisture is added to the air, relative
humidity decreases with the rise in
temperature (during the day).
