2. Identify key elements of literary texts such as
characters, setting, plot, and theme.
3. Express understanding and appreciation of
literary texts through discussion and written
responses.
Classroom Rules

related to the topic.

with the topic or to give some
insights or additional information on

A Kind Heart
Once upon a time, in a small village, there was a
kind boy named Lucas. Every afternoon, he
would visit his grandmother, who lived at the
edge of the forest. One day, he found her
struggling to carry a basket of fruits. "Let me help
you, Grandma," Lucas said, lifting the basket with
a smile. His grandmother patted his head and
said, "You have such a kind heart, my dear." That
evening, as they sat by the fireplace, Lucas
listened to his grandmother’s stories, feeling
happy and grateful.
ELEMENTS OF A STORY

 Characters – The people, animals, or creatures in the story.


 Setting – The time and place where the story happens.
 Plot – The sequence of events in the
story, including the beginning, middle,
and end. What happened first, next, and
last in the story is the plot.
 Theme – The message or lesson of the
story.
The Lost Puppy

One afternoon, Mia was walking home from


school when she heard a soft whimpering
sound. She looked around and saw a small,
shivering puppy hiding under a bench. Its fur
was dirty, and it looked lost. Feeling sorry for
the puppy, Mia gently picked it up and took it
home. She gave it food, a warm blanket, and
lots of love. The next day, Mia and her mother
went around the neighborhood, asking if
anyone had lost a puppy. Finally, they found
an old man who had been looking for his pet.
The man was so happy and thanked Mia for
her kindness. Mia smiled, knowing she had
done the right thing.

The Lost Painting
Lena was excited for the school’s art
contest. She had spent days painting a
beautiful landscape of the sunset. On the
day of the competition, as she was carrying
her painting to school, a strong gust of wind
blew it out of her hands. Panicked, she
chased after it and found it stuck on a fence.
Luckily, her friend Miguel helped her retrieve
it just in time. In the end, Lena submitted
her painting and won second place. She was
proud of her hard work and grateful for
Miguel’s help.
