Green Building is the practice of


Creating the structures that are more energy efficient,
resource efficient and environmentally responsible

GREEN BUILDING RATING SYSTEM

 A Green Building Rating system is an evaluation


tool that evaluate the environmental performance
of a building though it’s life cycle is called as the
green building Rating system

 LEED ( Leadership in energy and environmental design)
 CASBEE (comprehensive assessment system for building environmental
efficiency)

HISTORY OF IGBC

Formed in 2001 by the Confederation of Indian


Industry (CII) Launched the Green Building Moment
in 2001
Promote green building in India
 Provides tools to facilitate the adoption of green
building practices in India
VISION OF IGBC

The vision of IGBC is to facilitate India emerge as a global leader in


green buildings and green built environment by 2025.In a span of
last 2 decades, CII- IGBC through its multi-pronged approach could
facilitate in bringing about a paradigm shift in the way buildings are
conceived and designed across various forms of built environment.
CII-IGBC has launched 31 Green Rating Systems for Buildings and
Built Environment which are designed to address various building
typologies
 IGBC is representing India at global forum –’World Green Building
Council’ among 90+ country councils and is the founding
member of World GBC since 2004. IGBC is leading the Asia
Pacific Network in green building related discussions.
Green Building has tremendous benefits such
as both Tangible and In Tangible:

 Tangible Benefits:
Energy Saving:15%-30%
Water Saving:15%-50%
 Intangible Benefits:
Enhanced Air Quality
Health & Higher satisfaction levels of
occupants
Scope:
 Pilot version of IGBC Existing Buildings O & M rating
system is applicable for all types of non residential
buildings including Office Buildings, IT Parks,
Shopping Malls, Hotels, Hospitals, Airports, Banks
etc..... Building types such as factory and Schools will
be covered under respective IGBC rating programme
 Buildings which are 80% occupied (with respect to
carpet area) and operational for minimum of 1 year
are eligible for certification under IGBC Existing
Buildings O & M rating
Certification Levels:

 Points are awarded based on proper


maintenance of Solar Energy, Sewage
Treatment, Natural Light Availability and
Plantation etc… in Green Building
Validity of Certification:

 IGBC Green Existing Buildings O & M rating is valid


for period of 3 years from date of issue if
certification.

reduction, material and energy intensity, clean energy

construction of Green Buildings to make India as eco
friendly and sustainable development without
polluting the environment
