The document categorizes objects based on their ability to transmit light into five types: transparent, translucent, opaque, luminous, and non-luminous. Transparent objects allow light to pass through completely, while translucent objects allow partial light. Opaque objects do not allow light to pass, luminous objects emit their own light, and non-luminous objects do not have their own light source.
