Geological location
The MGB Headquarters is located in
Hyderabad, Telangana, India. The region
is situated on the Deccan Plateau,
characterized by rocky terrain and a
tropical climate. Hyderabad’s
geography consists of hard granite
outcrops and undulating terrain, which
influences architectural design and
construction.In Hyderabad’s dry, hot
climate, the vast majority of office-
goers are resigned to spend their entire
day within the confines of air-
conditioned space with very little
access to fresh air from the outdoors.
Hyderabad--a once laid-back town-- is
now a competitive cosmopolitan city,
attracting many big-tech companies,

MGB Headquarters, designed by
Spacefiction Studio, stands as a
testament to innovative and
sustainable architecture. The
project balances functionality with
aesthetics, creating a workspace
that responds to its environmental
context. The headquarters serves
as the administrative building for
MGB, incorporating modern office
spaces, collaborative zones, and
recreational areas.
Concept
Spacefiction Studio aimed to minimize
environmental impact by utilizing locally sourced
materials and employing passive design
strategies. The design concept revolves around
creating a dynamic workspace that fosters
creativity and interaction while addressing
environmental challenges. The architecture
draws inspiration from traditional Indian design
principles, incorporating passive cooling
strategies, open-plan layouts, and seamless
indoor-outdoor integration.
Key design objectives include:
1.Maximizing natural light and ventilation.
2.Minimizing the building's ecological footprint.
3.Creating an inclusive and adaptable space for
diverse work scenarios.
4. The building’s layout emphasizes open
spaces, natural ventilation, and abundant
daylight, ensuring a healthy and vibrant
workspace.
Climate Analysis
Hyderabad experiences a hot and dry
climate, with high temperatures in
summer and moderate winters. Key
climatic considerations for the design
included:

Specification: Informal seating zones, integrated
with biophilic elements.
Purpose: Encourages casual interactions,
relaxation, and brainstorming.
Meeting Rooms:
Specification: Acoustically treated spaces with AV
capabilities.
Purpose: Facilitates formal discussions,
presentations, and virtual meetings.
Outdoor Spaces:
Specification: Central courtyard, shaded terraces, and
rooftop gardens.
Purpose: Enhances community interaction, provides
natural cooling, and improves mental well-being.
Cafeteria:
Specification: Semi-open dining area with energy-efficient
lighting.
Purpose: Acts as a social hub for employees.
Utility Spaces:
Specification: Dedicated service cores and storage
rooms.
Purpose: Ensures smooth operational efficiency.

addressing the local climate and leveraging passive design strategies, the

glass box typology of the office building. The thoughtful use of materials and
needs of its occupants but also promotes a healthier and more collaborative
