TOPIC: POLYGONS AND LINES OF SYMMETRY

Lines

Lets look at some types of lines we use to

draw our shapes.

From the video we can see that we have:

1. Parallel Lines
2. Intersecting Lines
3. Perpendicular Lines

How do we represent them in our shapes?

Symbols
How do we represent Parallel Lines, Intersecting Lines and
Perpendicular Lines in our drawings?

Parallel Lines:
For these lines we use arrows showing the direction of the line.

*Some times a shape might have more that

one pair of parallel lines and so we use
a double arrow to show that there are more
than one pairs going in different directions.
Symbols
How do we represent Parallel Lines, Intersecting Lines and
Perpendicular Lines in our drawings?

Intersecting Lines:
For an intersecting line you may only see a dot, or there may not even
be a symbol.
Symbols
How do we represent Parallel Lines, Intersecting Lines and
Perpendicular Lines in our drawings?

Perpendicular Lines:
Perpendicular lines are intersecting lines that meet at a 90 degree or
right angles (like the corner of a room or the corner of you page.

When we draw perpendicular lines we use

A little bow to show them.
Topic 1: Plane Shapes

Polygons
A polygon is plane figure with 3 or more sides.

If a polygon has all equal sides and angles they

are called Regular Polygons.
