PROBLEM STATEMENT

Existing traffic management systems struggle with real-time

anomaly detection, efficient traffic load balancing, and
congestion prediction. They fail to dynamically adapt to
sudden traffic spikes caused by accidents, road closures, or
unusual congestion. To address this, an intelligent system
incorporating machine learning for anomaly detection, a load-
balancing algorithm leveraging AWS Lambda for real-time
processing, and traffic density estimation for optimized route
recommendations is required. This approach aims to enhance
INTRODUCTION
 Urban traffic congestion is increasing due to the rapid rise
in vehicle numbers.
 Traditional traffic management systems are inefficient in
handling real-time traffic conditions.
 Poor traffic flow leads to longer travel times, increased fuel
consumption, and higher pollution levels.
 Existing systems fail to respond dynamically to accidents,
roadblocks, and sudden congestion.
 The need for an intelligent, real-time adaptive traffic
management system is critical.
 Advanced technologies such as machine learning, real-time
data processing, and optimization techniques can enhance
traffic flow.
4
OBJECTIVES
 Develop a smart traffic management system that adapts to
real-time conditions.
 Improve traffic load distribution to reduce congestion and
optimize road usage.
 Implement real-time anomaly detection for better traffic
control and safety.
 Reduce travel time, fuel consumption, and environmental
impact.
 Integrate machine learning models to predict and manage
traffic efficiently.
 Enable dynamic traffic signal control and alternate route
recommendations.
 Utilize simulation-based approaches for realistic traffic
analysis.
LITERATURE SURVEY
 Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS) use big data and machine
learning for traffic analysis.
 Machine Learning Models (Decision Trees, Random Forest,
SVM) have been used for traffic prediction.
 Anomaly detection techniques help identify accidents but
require real-time processing improvements. Real-time anomaly
detection is still a challenge due to high computational costs.
 Most existing traffic management systems rely on fixed-timing
signals and predefined route assignments.
 Predictive modeling for congestion and accident
prevention remains underdeveloped.
EXISTING METHODOLOGY
 Fixed-timing traffic signals that do not adjust to real-time
congestion levels.
 Predefined routes for vehicles without considering real-time traffic
conditions.
 Centralized traffic management systems with delayed response
times.
 Manual intervention required for traffic adjustments, causing
inefficiencies.
 Limited or no real-time anomaly detection, leading to ineffective
congestion management.
 Poor traffic load balancing, causing certain roads to be highly
congested while others remain underutilized.
 Lack of predictive capabilities for handling accidents and
roadblocks in advance.
PROPOSED METHODOLOGY &
ALGORITHM
 Simulation-based traffic control for real-time traffic
analysis and optimization.
 Machine learning models (GNN, LSTM, Isolation Forest) for
anomaly detection.
 Load balancing techniques (Genetic Algorithm, Particle
Swarm Optimization) for efficient traffic distribution.
 Real-time data processing using Apache Kafka, AWS
Lambda, and Edge Computing.
 Dynamic traffic light control to adjust signal timings based
on real-time congestion.
 Automated alternate route recommendations to ease
congestion.
