In commerce, there are mainly two degree course after 12th –


B.Com/B.Com(H) or BBA/BBM/BMS. Some new courses have also
come up like BBE/BFIA
CAREER PATHWAYS FOR COMMERCE
1 Chartered Accountancy - is the core of all business, be it big or small. A chartered
accountant’s work involves auditing, taxation, accounting and financial planning.

2 Cost and Management Accountancy - It involves collecting, assimilating, and analysing


financial information from all areas of the organization.
3 Company Secretary- It involves management, finance, tax, corporate planning, and legal
affairs. They are responsible to ensure statutory compliance of the company with
requirements on different fronts.
4 Actuarial Science- is the discipline that applies mathematical and statistical methods to
assess risk in the insurance and finance industries.

5 Chartered Financial Analyst - is a professional credential offered by


CFA Institute to Investment and Financial professionals.
6 Management – Involves Finance, Marketing, Human Resource, Operations.

EDUCATION PATH

Foundation
• Enroll for it after appearing in Class 12th examination.
Course:

• One can join intermediate course after passing foundation examination, followed by
Articled training.
Intermediat
e Course:

• Appear in the Final Examination on completion of the practical training or while serving last 6
months of articled training.
Final • Complete articled training of 3 years.
Course:

Pass Final Examination and Enroll as a member of the ICAI and be designated as
“Chartered Accountant”

• An in-house legal expert; a compliance officer of the Company.

• An expert in corporate laws, securities laws & capital market and


corporate governance

• Chief advisor to the board of directors on best practices in corporate


governance

• Responsible for all regulatory compliances of company

The student who would like to join the Course after 10+2 has to undergo three
stages to pursue the CS Course:

COST MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANCY
• Involves costing, pricing of goods and services,
verification or certification of Cost Records and Taxation,
especially in Indirect Taxation.

• Calculation and assessment of costs and expenses to


purchase or produce something.
CHARTERED FINANCIAL ANALYST
Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) is a professional credential offered by CFA
Institute to Investment and Financial professionals.

After completing and passing the CFA Program one will bridge academic theory,
assess current industry practice, and learn ethical and professional standards to
provide a strong foundation of advanced investment analysis and real-world
portfolio management skills.

EDUCATION PATH - Actuary
-Eligibility criteria is 10 + 2 examination with English as one of the subjects.

-First step is to appear for Actuarial Common Entrance Test (ACET). If one has passed ACET, they
are eligible for student membership of the Institute of Actuaries of India (IAI)

-There are total 15 subjects to be cleared for complete qualification.

Their are 9 Core Technical papers (CT), 3 Core Technical Papers (CA), 2 Specialist Technical
Paper(ST) and 1 Specialist Application Paper(SA).

• Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) – Conducted by Symbiosis International University for


admission to 15 institutes under Symbiosis International University

• NMIMS Management Aptitude Test (NMAT) – For admission in Narsee Monjee, Alliance
University, SRM University, BML Munjal, VIT University, ICFAI Business School, & Ansal University.

• Accounting – Analyzing and summarizing financial records along with auditing and
strenuous book-keeping.

• Auditing - Obtaining and evaluating financial statements or accounts of private business or


government undertaking. It is a specialized form of accounting and plays a vital role in both
private and public organization.

• Finance – Helping businesses and individuals in making various financial planning decisions,
monitoring cash flow, managing assets and liabilities, raising capital for expansion and running
business operations.

• Stockbroking - Buying and selling of stocks in the stock market. Stockbrokers manage investments
in stocks, bonds, and derivatives for their clients, and advise them about market fluctuations.
• Taxation - Process of imposing financial charge (tax) on the citizens who earn 'taxable' income.
It involves dealing with direct taxes, assessment of taxes, filing returns and providing advice on
indirect taxes.

• Insurance – Form of risk management primarily used to hedge against the risk of a
contingent, uncertain loss. It has witnessed exceptional growth with participation of both
public and private sector players. Not only it provides a protective shield to the lives and
assets of the nation but also generate thousands of jobs and career opportunities.

• Banking – Management of other people’s money. Includes loan facilities, safeguarding of


deposits, debit & credit card, internet banking, lockers, ATM services, investment planning,
insurance, brokerage services, fund management, risk management, advisory services etc.
