The Role of

Technology in
Delivering the
Curriculum
Objectives:
• Discuss the roles of technology
in curriculum delivery.
• Identify the factors in
technology selection including
the use of visual aids.
• Technology makes learning fun and easier! We can
use computers, tablets, and the internet to watch
videos, play learning games, and work on projects
together.
• Learning can happen anywhere with technology! We
can do our homework online, take virtual field trips,
and chat with our teachers and classmates online.
• Choosing the Right Tools: Just like choosing the
right tools for building a LEGO castle (bricks,
instructions!), we need to choose the right
technology for learning. We need things that are
easy to use and help us learn better.
• Technology helps us learn important skills like
Technology offers various tools of
learning and these can range from non-
projected and projected media from
which the teacher can choose,
depending on what he/she sees fit with
the intended instructional setting. For
example, will a chalkboard presentation
be sufficient in illustrating a

The Role of Technology in Curriculum
Delivery
Technology is rapidly transforming education.
Three major trends are emerging: a shift from
teacher-centered to student-centered learning; a
broader understanding of education as
encompassing cognitive, affective, and
psychomotor development; and the increasing
influence of information and communications
technology (ICT) due to its growing affordability
and availability. These trends are making
education more effective, efficient, and humane.
These primary roles are based on the framework of
Technology-Driven Teaching and Learning called
TPACK (1) Technological Knowledge, (2) Pedagogical
Knowledge and (3) Content Knowledge. TPACK
shows that there is a direct interconnectedness of
the three components, thus in teaching-learning
process, a teacher should always ask and find the

• Whatanswer
shall I to the (Content Knowledge)

• How shall I teach the content? (Pedagogical
Knowledge)
• What technology will I use in how the teach the
content (Technological Knowledge)
These questions highlight the interconnectedness of
content, pedagogy, and technology within the TPACK
