ABSTRACT
• In this project, we aim to design and implement an Ultrasonic Radar
system using Arduino Uno and an Ultrasonic Sensor.
• The system utilizes ultrasonic waves to detect the presence and distance
of objects in its surroundings, providing real-time feedback.
• We will explore the principles of ultrasonic sensing, signal processing,
and data interpretation to create a functional radar display.
• The Arduino Uno serves as the brain of the operation, processing sensor
data and triggering appropriate responses.
• Our goal is to develop a cost-effective and efficient solution for
applications such as obstacle detection, blind-spot monitoring, or
security systems, showcasing the versatility of ultrasonic radar
technology in a DIY setting.

INTRODUCTION

• The ultrasonic radar system is used to detect any object that comes in
it’s range with an ultrasonic sensor and Arduino
• One might choose ultrasonic radar over other methods due to its
simplicity, cost-effectiveness, and reliability. Ultrasonic sensors
provide accurate distance measurements and are particularly effective
in applications like obstacle avoidance and proximity sensing.
• The ultrasonic sensor is mounted on a servo motor which rotates
sideways. The sensor scans the area within it's distance. If we place an
object within the 40cm range then the sensor detects the object and that
is indicated by the red lines on the radar.

Working

• An ultrasonic radar functions by emitting

ultrasonic waves through a sensor. The
sensor then calculates the time it takes for
the waves to bounce back after hitting an
object.
• Using this time data, the Arduino calculates
the distance to the object and processes it to
determine the object's location. The system
typically includes servo motors to rotate the
ultrasonic sensor, allowing it to scan the
surroundings.
• The Arduino then translates this
information into actionable data, like
triggering alarms or displaying distances on
a screen. 8

Arduino Uno
• The Arduino Uno is a versatile
microcontroller board, popular for its
user-friendly design and open-source
nature. It utilizes the ATmega328P
microcontroller, which is based on the
AVR architecture.
• The board features digital and analog
input/output pins, providing
connectivity for various sensors,
actuators, and modules. With a clock
speed of 16 MHz, it efficiently
processes instructions and controls
peripherals.
• Its simplicity and a vast community of
developers make it ideal for beginners
and professionals alike, enabling the
creation of diverse projects from
simple LEDs to complex robotics. 10
Ultrasonic Sensor • An ultrasonic sensor is an instrument that
measures the distance to an object using
ultrasonic sound waves.
• An ultrasonic sensor uses a transducer to
send and receive ultrasonic pulses that
relay back information about an object’s
proximity.

SG90 Micro-servo motor

SG90 is a small, low-cost servo motor that
can rotate 180 degrees with a maximum
torque of 1.8 kg-cm. It has a weight of
approximately 9 grams, making it ideal for
small-scale robotics and model control
applications. 11
