SCERT
•The National Council of Educational

maintains a network of field offices to
keep a close liaison with State
Government.

(SCERT) is one of these offices.

FUNCTIONS OF SCERT
• To organize and implement the special educational
projects sponsored by UNICEF, NCERT and other agencies
for qualitative improvement of school education and
teacher educators.

• To prescribe curricula and textbooks for the school and


teacher training institutions.

• To produce instructional materials for the use of teacher-


educators.

• To arrange in-service training for different categories of


teachers, inspecting officers and teacher-educators and
coordinate the work of other agencies operating at the
state level.
FUNCTIONS OF SCERT
• To organize programmes including Correspondence-cum-
Contact Courses for professional development of teachers,
teacher-educators and inspecting offi cers.
• To supervise the working of the Teacher-Training Colleges,
Secondary Training Schools and Elementary Training Schools.
• To provide extension service to Teacher-Training Institutions
at all levels in the state.
• To conduct studies and investigations on the various
problems of education.
• To evaluate the adult and non-formal education programmes
entrusted by the Government.

•DIET or 'District Institute for Education and
Training' are district level educational institutes
which have been established in each district of
India by the Indian government.
•They help in coordinating and implementing
government policies at district level.
FUNCTION OF DIETS

COLLEGES OF TEACHER EDUCATION
(CTES)

FUNCTIONS OF CTES AND
IASES
The CTEs and IASE are required to combine the twin functions of
secondary school teachers as well as of elementary teacher
educators. The CTEs and IASEs are expected to perform the
following broad functions
• Imparting of quality pre-service and in-service education to the
secondary school teachers
• Preparation of personnel for the faculties of elementary teacher
education institutions, and their continuing education
• Provision of general resource support to the secondary schools
and elementary teacher education institutions
• Research, innovation and extension work in the field of secondary
education and elementary teacher education.
NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF
EDUCATIONAL PLANNING AND
ADMINISTRATION (NIEPA)
• VISION : Evolving a humane learning society through
advancement of knowledge
• MISSION :To become a centre of excellence in educational policy,
planning and management by promoting advanced level
teaching, research and capacity development in national and
global context
• NIEPA is a premier organization dealing with research,
teaching, capacity building and supporting professionals
in policy, planning and management of education not only
in India but also internationally
HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF
NIEPA
• In 1962 UNESCO established Asian Regional Centre for
Educational Planners and Administrators in Delhi.
• In 1965 NIEPA it was renamed as Asian Institute of
Educational Planning and Administration
• in 1973 it was merged with GOI and renamed as National
Staff College of Educational Planning and
Administrator (NSCEPA)
• With increasing roles and function, In 1979 it was
rechristened again as NIEPA
• In August 2006 NIEPA got the status of ‘Deemed to be
University’
OBJECTIVES AND FUNCTIONS
OF NIEPA
• To organize pre-service and in-service training
programmes in the area of educational planning and
administration and allied disciplines
• To undertake, aid, promote and coordinate research in
various aspects of educational planning and administration
and allied disciplines, including comparative studies in
planning techniques and administrative procedures in the
different States of India and in other countries of the world
• To provide academic and professional guidance to agencies,
institutions and personnel engaged in educational planning
and administration
• To offer M. Phil, Ph. D. and Post-Doctoral Programmes
and award degrees in educational planning, educational
administration, educational finance, comparative education,
school education, higher education, professional education,
policy research, gender in education, discrimination in
education, education and globalization, educational
management and information system, etc.
• To act as a clearing house of ideas and information on
research, training and extension in educational planning and
administration services and other programmes
• To prepare, print and publish papers, periodicals and
books in furtherance of these objectives and especially to
bring out a Journal on Educational Planning and Administration
• To organize training, conferences, workshops, meetings,
seminars and briefing sessions for educational personnel of
the Central and State Governments and Union Territories
• To offer, on request, consultancy service to Governments,
including State Governments, educational institutions and
institutions/organizations in India & abroad.
• To organize orientation and training programmes and
refresher courses for teacher-educators and for University
and College Administrators engaged in educational planning and
administration
• To organize orientation programmes, seminars and
discussion groups for persons including legislators in the
field of educational planning and administration at the level of
policy making in Central and State Governments
• To provide, on request, facilities for training and research in
educational planning and administration to other countries,
especially of the Asian Region, and collaborate with them in
programmes
• To offer fellowships, scholarships and academic awards in
furtherance of the objects of the National University;
