This study compares the effectiveness of fermented plant juice (FPJ) and inorganic fertilizers on the growth of Pechay (Brassica rapa L.). Results indicate that while inorganic fertilizers yield better plant height and leaf production, FPJ is a cost-effective organic alternative. The research supports sustainable farming practices and suggests further exploration of FPJ ingredients and combinations with inorganic fertilizers.

Comparative Evaluation of
Fermented Plant Juice and
Inorganic Fertilizers on the Growth Performance of Pechay Research (Brassica rapa L.) Defense Presentation Introduction • Pechay is a popular leafy vegetable. • Fertilizers enhance plant growth. • This study compares FPJ and inorganic fertilizers for effectiveness. Statement of the Problem • Main Question: Does FPJ work as well as inorganic fertilizer? • Sub-questions: • - Which treatment leads to better height and leaf growth? • - Which treatment is more cost-effective? Objectives of the Study • General: Evaluate FPJ versus inorganic fertilizer effectiveness. • Specific: • - Measure plant height and number of leaves. • - Identify the most effective treatment. • - Evaluate cost-effectiveness. Significance of the Study • Supports sustainable farming. • Helps farmers choose effective fertilizers. • Contributes to agricultural research on organic options. Methodology • Design: Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) • Treatments: • - T0: Control (No fertilizer) • - T1: FPJ (Kamote tops) • - T2: FPJ (Malunggay) • - T3: Inorganic Fertilizer (Complete Fertilizer) • Parameters: Height and number of leaves Results - Plant Height • T3 (Inorganic) showed the highest average height. • FPJ treatments also improved height compared to control. Results - Number of Leaves • T3 produced more leaves. • FPJ treatments showed better results than control. Cost Analysis • FPJ is cheaper than inorganic fertilizers. • Uses accessible ingredients: kamote tops and malunggay. • Cost-effective but slightly less effective. Conclusion • Inorganic fertilizer gave the best growth results. • FPJ is a good organic alternative. • Malunggay FPJ outperformed Kamote tops FPJ. Recommendations • Explore other FPJ ingredients. • Test combinations of FPJ and inorganic fertilizers. • Promote FPJ in organic farming systems.
