Who Invented
Morse Code?
• Morse code was invented by
Samuel Morse, an American
inventor, in the 1830s and 1840s.
He created it as a way to send
messages over long distances
using telegraphs. Samuel Morse
worked with his helper, Alfred
Vail, to make the code easier to
use and understand.
How Where Morse
Code Used?
• Morse code is a way of sending
messages using dots and dashes.
It was first used with telegraphs
to send messages over long
distances. Ships used it to talk to
each other and call for help using
the SOS signal (··· --- ···). It was
also used in airplanes and the
military for communication. Even
though we now have newer
technology, Morse code is still
used by some radio operators
and in emergencies when other
ways to communicate might not
work.
Why Do We Need An
Electric Telegraph?

• The electric telegraph was


needed because it let people
send messages quickly over long
distances. Before that, it took a
long time to send messages. The
telegraph helped businesses,
news reporters, governments,
and the military communicate
faster and stay connected. It
made the world feel smaller and
made communication much
easier.
What Do The Dots
And Dashes In Morse
Code Represent?
In Morse code, dots (.) and dashes
(-) represent letters and numbers.
The dot is a short signal, and the
dash is a longer signal. Each
letter of the alphabet and each
number has its own unique
combination of dots and dashes.
For example:
• A is represented by a dot
followed by a dash (·-).
• The number 1 is represented by a
dot followed by four dashes (·----).
The dots and dashes are used to
form messages that can be sent
through sound, light, or electrical
signals.
