Introduction
Amazon is an American multinational technology
company engaged in e-commerce, cloud
computing, online advertising, digital streaming,
and artificial intelligence. Founded in 1994, the
company originally started as an online
marketplace for books but gradually expanded its
offerings to include a wide range of product
categories, referred to as "The Everything Store".
CASE STUDY
1. During the Black Friday weekend of 2024,
Amazon faced significant labor unrest as
employees across more than 20 countries went
on strike and staged protests. This coordinated
movement, known as the "Make Amazon Pay"
campaign, was organized by UNI Global Union
and Progressive International. The
demonstrations aimed to hold Amazon
accountable for alleged labor abuses. The
protests spanned from Black Friday through
Cyber Monday, targeting one of the busiest
shopping periods of the year.
