What is Transport?
• Transport is the system of moving people, animals, and goods from one location to another. It’s something we use every
day, even if we don’t always notice it.
• Whether it's taking the bus to school, shipping packages through a delivery service, or flying to another country—transport
is what makes all of that possible.
• These systems help connect countries, support businesses, and improve people’s lives all over the world.
Types of Transport
• Land Transport:
• This includes vehicles like cars, buses, trucks, motorcycles, bicycles, and trains. It’s the most commonly used
form of transport for short to medium distances. Roads, railways, and subways are all part of this system.
• Water Transport:
• Boats, ships, cargo vessels, and ferries are used to move people and goods across oceans, rivers, and lakes. It’s
often used for large shipments like oil, food, and containers between countries.
• Air Transport:
• Airplanes, jets, and helicopters fall into this category. It’s the fastest way to travel long distances and is super
important for international business, tourism, and emergencies.
• Extra:
• Some modern forms of transport include electric scooters, self-driving cars, and even high-speed trains like the
Japanese Shinkansen.
Why Transport is Important
• Transport is not just about moving from one place to another. It is essential for how society functions. Here are a few key
reasons why transport matters:
• - It allows people to get to school, work, hospitals, and other important places.
• - It helps businesses deliver products to customers quickly and reliably.
• - It connects different countries, supports tourism, and encourages cultural exchange.
• - It plays a vital role in emergency services, such as ambulances and fire trucks.
• - It creates jobs and supports the economy by helping industries operate efficiently.
• Transport helps the world stay connected, grow stronger, and work together.
