The document provides an overview of the universe, describing it as an infinite space containing all matter and energy, with an estimated extent of 93 billion light-years and an origin dating back 13.8 billion years. It details the formation of the universe, including components such as galaxies, nebulae, stars, and black holes, as well as the classification of galaxies into elliptical, spiral, and irregular types. Additionally, it covers the history of astronomy, significant milestones, and the unique contributions of Mayan astronomy, particularly their Long Count calendar.

EARTH AND THE UNIVERSE
AND ASTRONOMY JISELLE MONSERRAT, AMY GIRON,MELVIN JIMENEZ,JIZAC ALVARADO,SOFIA MORAZÁN AND ELEAZAR COREA WHAT IS THE UNIVERSE?.
• The universe in an infinite space with all forms of matter
energy and the laws the govern them.it is also called cosmo. HOW LONG HAS THE UNIVERSE?
• It is not known with certainty of the universe, but is believed
that it is a least 93 billion light-years in extent and that is origin goes back to 13,810 millions years HOW IS THE UNIVERSE FORMED?
• The universe is made up of galaxies, nebulae, stars, planets, natural
satélites and comets • Galaxies:They are the largest structures in the universe. They are made up of groups of billion of stars. • Nebulae:They are regions of diffuse matter of the interstelar medium formed by gases, especially by hydrogen, helium and dust • Stars:They are plasma spheres that generate energy by means of the fusión of the hydrogen atoms in helium • Comets:A comet is a celestial body made up of ice, dust, and rocks that orbits the Sun following different elliptical paths. • Quasar:It is an astronomical source of electromagnetic energy, which includes radio frequencies and visible light. • Black Holes:A black hole is a finite region of space within which there is a concentration of mass high enough to generate a gravitational field such that no material particle, not even light, can escape from it. CLASSIFICATION OF GALAXIES
• Ellipticals: They contain population of old stars
• Spirals: These contain old and young stars, this type is more common • Irregular: They are younger and smaller galaxies •ASTRONOMY. WHAT IS ASTRONOMY?
Astronomy is the study of the stars, their
composition, location, movements and related phenomena. HISTORY OF ASTRONOMY
• In resume, in prehistoric times they were attentive to events
in the sky, recounting cosmic phenomena. This is how astronomy was born, in the beginning they tried to explain those events with mythological elements RELEVANT THINGS THAT HAPPENED IN THE EVOLUTION OF ASTRONOMY • Egyptians make the first solar calendar in the story • In China the earliest known solar eclipse is documented • Geocentric theory is postulated • Roman governor Julius Caesar implements the Julian calendar based on the movement of the sun • Use of the first telescope by Galileo Galilei • The Soviet Union launches the first artificial satellite Sputnik 1 • Nasa is created • Isaac Newton publishes the laws of universal gravitation MAYAN ASTRONOMY
• Mayan astronomy is part of a larger tradition. In the Mesoamerican
peoples, the observation of the stars was of vital importance for the development of the material and spiritual life shared by the other Mesoamerican societies, although it has certain characteristics that make it unique. One of them, the most representative, is the use of the Long Count calendar, by which the Maya of the classical period were able to make longer-term estimates. https://youtu.be/MkRSmynqonM
