Abstract

 In order to divert attention from pressing challenges facing the nation, such as jobs, health care, education,
infrastructure, crime against women and children, and the economy, major Indian news outlets are
leveraging social media and false news. This essay examines how they do so. Keywords:- Sentiment
analysis, Emojis, modern emoticons, pre-processing etc. This pilot study focuses on the themes that major
news organisations debate on their prime-time shows and post on social media to polarise, divert, and incite
hostility among the populace in order to distract them from the genuine problems facing the nation.

Introduction
 The use of social media to disseminate false information has increased significantly during the last few
years. Social media is being used by everyone from individuals to corporations, political parties to extremist
organisations to spread false information . There has been an increase in false news generated and published
by mainstream news networks, and they are leveraging social media to reach the general public in countries
where political parties or governments control mainstream news outlets directly or indirectly. India is a
prime example of one of these nations. The spread of false information online is one of the top 10 risks to
society, and fake news on social media is a problem. Fake news is any news content that contains untrue,
made-up, prejudiced, slanted, or factually wrong information. The issue of fake news on social media first
came to light immediately following the 2016 presidential election in the United States. Numerous studies
and investigations claimed that bogus news on social media may have influenced the choices of users

Credulous Users and Fake News: 2020 IEEE

Recent studies have confirmed a growing trend,
a Real Case Study on the
Propagation in Twitter especially among youngsters, of using Online Social
Media as favourite information platform at the
expense of traditional mass media. Indeed, they can
easily reach a wide audience at a high speed; but
exactly because of this they are the preferred medium
for influencing public opinion via so-called fake news.

Aim & Objective
• Source Evaluation:
– Assess the credibility of the news source. Look for well-established and reputable news outlets with a
history of accurate reporting.
– Consider the domain name and URL. Fake news sites may use domains that mimic legitimate sources or
contain misspellings.
• Fact-Checking:
– Use fact-checking websites and resources to verify the accuracy of the information presented in the news
article.
– Cross-reference claims with multiple reliable sources to confirm their validity.
• Authorship:
– Research the author's credentials and background. Established journalists are more likely to produce
credible content.
– Be cautious if the article lacks a named author or provides minimal information about the author.
• Content Analysis:
– Analyze the content for logical consistency, coherence, and factual accuracy.
– Look for sensationalism, emotional language, or exaggerated claims, which are common in fake news.

Existing System

Natural Language Processing (NLP):

Proposed systems often leverage NLP techniques to analyze the text of news articles. This includes sentiment
analysis, language modeling, and text classification

Proposed System

Machine Learning Algorithms:

Machine learning models, such as supervised learning algorithms (e.g., Random Forest, Support Vector
Machines), are commonly used to classify news articles as real or fake based on labeled training data.

Methodology

 The main objective of the SVM algorithm is to find the optimal hyper plane in an N-dimensional space that
can separate the data points in different classes in the feature space. The hyper plane tries that the margin
between the closest points of different classes should be as maximum as possible
