Baroro is a barangay in the municipality of Bacnotan, in the province of La
Union. Its population as determined by the 2021 Census was 2,420. This
represented 5.60% of the total population of Laurel.
The population of Baroro grew from 856 in 1990 to 2,420 in 2021, an
increase of 1,564 people over the course of 30 years. The latest census
figures in 2021 denote a positive growth rate of 0.61%, or an increase of
69 people, from the previous population of 2,351 in 2015.

1979 Under the Gintong Biyaya Project of President Ferdinand E. Marcos, Sr.
wherein 2 units of fish cages were given to 3 fisherfolk beneficiaries
namely; Atilano Manggubat, Carlito Masicat and Pablo Landicho. The
beneficiaries cultured tilapia and fed with palyat, trigo and darak (rice
bran) From Bacnotan, La Union, The children of these beneficiaries were
also provided with fisheries scholarship tasked of cleaning and
maintaining the fish cages during no classes.
2024 There are 312 fishponds in Brgy. Baroro, Mangrove, Tree Planting along
the river.
