ETHICS
Ethics refers to the standards for morally right and wrong conduct in
business.

Law partially defines the conduct, but “legal” and “ethical” aren't
necessarily the same. Ethics enhances the law by outlining acceptable
behaviors beyond government control.

Ethics tells us the way to act in a certain situation not just to achieve a
particular objective but considering everything around us.

A code of ethics is a set of values that guides the behaviour


and decision-making process of an organisation and its people.
Companies may create a code of ethics in the form of a
document that outlines their core values.

The ethical code document usually sets out the broad


standards to follow while conducting business or interacting
with customers in a business environment. The idea is to run a

the interest of parties involved. Further, it
emphasizes moral and social values like
consumer protection, welfare, fair business
practices, and service to society.

Businesses are expected to be fair and honest in all their


dealings. If businesses fail to do so, they face dire
consequences. The statutory laws govern ethics. But
ethics go beyond enforcement; they are to be self-imposed
and followed diligently. To uphold ethics, businesses must
conduct internal audits and quality control checks at
regular intervals. Also, ethics vary from company to
company.

ROLE OF REGULATORY
AUTHORITY
The role of the regulatory authority is to establish and strengthen
safety standards and ensure consistent compliance with them.

 ROLE OF MANAGER

• They are responsible for setting an example of ethical behavior.

• They are responsible for helping employees make ethical choices.

• They are responsible for helping employees follow through and exhibit
ethical behavior after the appropriate choice has been made.

• Self-Determination Manager should respect and promote the right


of employees to self-determination.

• Privacy and Confidentiality Manager should respect employees


right to privacy.

• Derogatory Language Manager should use accurate and respectful


language in all communications to and about employees.

• Respect Managers should treat colleagues with respect and should


represent accurately and fairly the qualifications, views, and
obligations of colleagues.

• Education and Training Managers who function as educators or field


instructors for employees should evaluate employees’ performance in

CONFIDENTIALITY
• Confidential information includes all nonpublic information that, if
disclosed, might be useful to competitors or harmful to the Company
or its customers.

• Confidentiality means the state of keeping secret or not


disclosing information. It comes from confide, meaning to trust
someone or tell secrets to them.

• Confidential information, therefore, is information that should be


kept private or secret.

• Confidentiality is simply the act of keeping that information private.

Each employee must maintain the confidentiality of confidential
information entrusted to him or her by the Company or its customers,
except when disclosure is authorized by the General Counsel or Vice
President, Legal, or required by law or regulations. Confidential
information includes all nonpublic information that, if disclosed, might
be useful to competitors or harmful to the Company or its customers. It
also includes information that suppliers and customers have entrusted
to us.

Employees are required to execute a standard form confidentiality


agreement upon employment and from time to time during the course
of employment. The obligation to preserve confidential information

Wherever possible, participants must be informed of the nature and


purpose of the JOB. The informed consent must be appropriately
documented.

DEBRIEFING

Debriefing is similar to informed consent. you should reveal the JOB


purpose and full design of the job.
