(deductive/from general to specific)
Presents a situation
Explains the reason for choosing the research topic
Creates the need for the study
States the competence of the researcher/s
Can be 2 – 4 pages
Theoretical Background
Presents the anchor theory (1) and supporting
theories (2)
(Present the three theories with the
proponents in 1 paragraph)

Present the legal basis (if any)

(Discuss each theory separately with citations
of sources)

Discusses related literature and studies

THE PROBLEM (start new page)
Statement of the Problem
 Contains the main problem

 Must be stated in qualitative form

States the sub – problems
Significance of the Study
 Mentions who are to benefit from the study and
how each may be benefited
 Discusses the value of the study to individuals,
groups, institutions and to the discipline
 Be meticulous in identifying the person/s,
institutions, groups and how they can benefit
the research and result.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY (start new page)
Research Design
 Discuss the design utilized 1 -2 paragraphs
 Explains the appropriateness of the method
 Cite the sources
The introductory paragraph specifies and
justifies the type of research used. In qualitative
research, a discussion on the appropriateness of
the method is needed with supporting studies.
Research Environment
 Describes the locale/venue of the
research, this includes the population of
the place, area, economic activities, and
when referring to an office or entity, state
the population and functions briefly.

(if there are more than 1 site, each must be

described in separate paragraphs)
Research Informants (this is the term to be
used in qualitative research)
 Explains the sampling procedure used
 Specifies the number of informants involved
 Describes the type and characteristics of the
informants
 Identify how many are for individual interview and how
many for focused group discussion (FGD) if applicable.
Justifies the adequacy of the number of
informants
Research Instruments
 Mentions the research instrument tools for gathering data
 Describes the content and preparation of each instrument
Research Procedures
Gathering of Data. This section describes the details of
data
 Explains how the gathering of data is done
 Cite sources
gathering employing the research described earlier.
Analysis of Data. This part explains how data are
analyzed. ( Explain what method of analysis is used)
DEFINITION OF TERMS (start new page)
 Gives the operational definition of keywords in the
title and sub – problems
(terms to be defined are those in the main
problem or sub-problem)
CHAPTER 2 (start new page)
PRESENTATION AND ANALYSIS OF DATA
Presentation of Data
- Short introduction shall be made pertaining to this
chapter
- This part presents the themes that were developed
out of the data gathered
- The themes will be introduced and the sample
responses of each of the informants with
translations into English presented
 (Present a summary of the themes)
 (The statement of sub-problem to be indented once
(single indention) while the themes under it shall
be indented twice (double indention)
 (When presenting the themes and the responses of
the informants. There must be introduction of the
informant number)
 When introducing the informants their statement
can be summarized before quoting the actual
responses.
Analysis of Data
- This part presents the thematic elucidation for
each theme with supporting studies and theories.

- This is one of the most important parts of the

research
- Follow the standard outline in the
Presentation of the summarized theme.
CHAPTER 3 (start new page)
SUMMARY, FINDINGS AND IMPLICATIONS
Statement of the Problem
-The main and sub-problems are restated
Methodology
-Summary of the methodology
Findings
-This part presents the themes and short
explanations
Implications
Implications for practice
- This deals with the effect or relevance of the study
with the present practices and situations on the
informants and their line of work or life
Implications for future studies
- This comprises the suggestions by the researchers
