Amikha Presentation On Radiographic Positioning

The document provides an overview of circles, defining them as collections of points equidistant from a center and detailing their parts such as radius, diameter, and circumference. It explains the concept of a sector, including its definition and formula for area, and distinguishes between major and minor sectors. Additionally, it includes assignments for calculating the area of a sector and a circle based on given dimensions.

WHAT IS A CIRCLE ?

• A Circle is a collection of all points in the plane that are all

equidistant from a given point which is the Centre .
• A Circle is a 2 D figure with no corners or edges.
• It’s a simple closed figure
PARTS OF A
CIRCLE
PARTS OF CIRCLE
• Centre : The point equidistant from all points on the circle’s
boundary.
• Radius: A line segment from the center of the circle to any point
on the circle.
• Diameter: A line segment passing through the center, connecting
two points on the circle's boundary.
• Circumference: The total distance around the circle.
• Arc: A portion of the circumference between two points on the
circle.
• Chord: A line segment with endpoints on the circle's boundary.
• Segment: A region bounded by a chord and an arc.
AREA OF CIRCLE
DEFINITION

It’s the region occupied by the circle in a two –

dimensional plane .
The Formula for area of circle :
SECTOR
DEFINITION

The sector of a circle is the region bounded by two radii and an

arc of a
circle.
The angle formed by the two radii is called a central angle.

There are two types of Sector : Major and Minor .

FORMULA SECTOR

Area = (θ/360) x πr²

Recapitulation
• WHAT IS A SECTOR ?
• The sector of a circle is the region bounded by
two radii and an arc of a circle.
* Area of a circle

Area = (θ/360) x πr²

ASSIGNMENTS

1.Find the area of a sector of a circle of radius

35cm whose central angle is 72 degree

2. Find the area of a circle with diameter 8cm

and of angle 30deg. Also find the area of the
corresponding major sector
