Knowledg Order of Integer numbers
e
• If two numbers are positive integers, the same criteria used for natural
numbers is applied. For example: 5 < 6
• If we compare a positive integer to a negative integer, then the positive
integer is the greatest. For example: -100 < 1
• If two numbers are negative integer, then compare both absolute values.
The. Number with the greatest absolute value will be the smallest number.
Thus, -25 < -10 because |−25| > |−10|
Guided Practice
Activity I
• Compare the integer numbers using symbols: <, > or =.
:

a. 6 ______ -28 c. -13 ______ -17 e. 0 ______-2

b. 4 ______ 6 d. 8 _______9 f. -6 ______ 6

Activity II
Order the following set of integer numbers from the greatest to the smallest.

c. -7, 5, 26, -85, 75, 11, -3, -9, 10.

d. 122, -1, 6, 0, -25, -26, 27.

Activity III
Represent each couple of integer numbers in a same number line.
Then, indicate the greater number. Observe the example.

Example N°1 -4 and 2 So, -4 < 2

a. -3 and 7
b. -8 and -15
c. 9 and -11
d. 0 and -6
