Baik Tahniah ! Anda mempunyai pelbagai strategi/ kemahiran menangani
tekanan.

Sederhana Anda mempunyai kemahiran menangani tekanan dan hendaklah


dipertingkatkan lagi kemahiran tersebut.

Ringan-teruk Masih lagi kekurangan dalam kemahiran menangani tekanan. Kadang


kala boleh menganggu kehidupan seharian dan kadang kala juga
mengalami tekanan. Memerlukan bantuan seelok-eloknya daripada
profesional untuk mengatasinya.

Teruk Kurang mempunyai kemahiran menangani tekanan yang boleh


menganggu kehidupan seharian dan kerap mengalami tekanan. Perlu
bantuan segera terutama daripada profesional untuk mengatasinya.
DEFINITION OF COPING
SKILL
• Lazarus and colleagues (1978) defined coping
as the process of managing stressors that have
been appraised as taxing or exceeding a
person’s resources and as the efforts to
manage environmental and internal demands.

• WHO- coping is a capacity to RESPOND and


RECOVER from something stressful.

Adaptive coping :
acts to reduce stress and promote long term

Maladaptive coping:

Categories of
coping strategies
Folkman and Lazarus (1980)
categorised coping strategies into
two categories:
Problem – focused
coping

Emotion-focused coping
Problem – Focused Coping

Adaptive mode of coping that


involves actively planning or
engaging in a specific behavior
to overcome the problem causing
distress
(Folkman and Lazarus,1985).

strategies

b) Use negotiation skills

d) Apply time-management skills
e) Seek practical advice from others
f) Decision making
g) Ask for help with tasks
h) Develop different solutions to the same problems
