ELECTRONIC DEVICES AND

CIRCUITS -ITEC-316-317
MS. MUQADAS CHARAN
COURSE OBJECTIVES

This course aims to help students to understand important

concepts and fundamental principles of electronic devices.
Student will be able to explain the operation of basic electronic
devices such as diodes, transistors, and operational amplifires.
INTRODUCTION

The word Electronic derived from Electron Mechanics, which

means to study of the behavior of an Electron and different
conditions of applied in electric field.
The device which controls the flow of electrons is called
electronic device.
These devices are the main building blocks of electronic
circuits.
HISTORY OF ELECTRONICS

Diode vacuum tube was the

first electronic component
invented by J.A Fleming.
Later Lee De Forest
developed the Triode, a three
element vacuum tube
capable of voltage
amplification.
HISTORY OF ELECTRONICS
In 1947 Bell laboratories
developed the first transistor
based on research of
Shockley, Bardeen and
Brattain.
HISTORY OF ELECTRONICS

• In 1959, Jack Kilby of

Texas Instruments
developed the first
Integrated Circuit.

• Digital Electronics
• Analog Electronics
• Micro Electronics
• Nano Electronics
• Integrated Circuits
• Semiconductor Device

RESISTOR

• A resistor is a passive electronic component that limits the

flow of electric current in a circuit. It is commonly used to
control voltage and current levels, as well as to divide
voltage and generate heat.
• Use to reduce voltage and current in a circuit.
CAPACITOR:

• A capacitor is another
passive electronic
component that stores and
releases electrical energy
in the form of an electric
field. It is used for various
purposes in circuits,
including energy storage,
filtering, timing, and
coupling.
TRANSISTOR

• A transistor is an active electronic

component that can amplify or
switch electronic signals and
electric power. It is the fundamental
building block of modern electronic
devices and circuits, serving various
functions such as amplification,
switching, oscillation, and
modulation.
INTEGRATED CIRCUIT (IC):
• An integrated circuit is a miniaturized
electronic circuit consisting of
semiconductor devices (such as
transistors, diodes, and resistors) and
passive components (such as capacitors
and inductors) fabricated onto a single
semiconductor substrate. ICs can perform
a wide range of functions, including
amplification, signal processing, logic
operations, and memory storage, within a
compact and efficient package

correct information.

• Information: Which gives sensible knowledge and can easily

understandable.
