Festival
• The Moon Festival, also known
as the Mid-Autumn Festival

• It is a traditional East Asian

celebration held on the 15th day
of the 8th lunar month,
typically in September or early
October.

• It is especially prominent in
China, Vietnam, Taiwan, and
among overseas Chinese
communities, but versions of it are
also observed in countries like
Korea and Japan
Here's a short version of the Moon Festival story:

A hero named Hou Yi got a magic potion to live forever.

He gave it to his wife Chang’e. One day, a bad man tried
to steal it, so Chang’e drank it to keep it safe. She flew
up to the moon and stayed there. Now, people celebrate
the Moon Festival by looking at the moon and
remembering her.
Here are 4 simple examples of what people
do during the Moon Festival:

1 Eat Mooncakes – People share and enjoy

round pastries filled with sweet or salty
flavors.

2 Watch the Moon – Families go outside to

admire the full moon together.

3 Light Lanterns – Children carry glowing

paper lanterns in parades or at home.

4 Tell Stories – Families tell the legend of

Chang’e, the lady who lives on the moon.
