The document presents a project on the design of a microstrip patch antenna for NavIC applications, focusing on dual-band operation at L5 (1.176 GHz) and S-band (2.492 GHz). It details the design methodology, dimensions, simulation results, and references relevant literature. The project aims to optimize the antenna's performance using techniques like inset feeding and simulation tools such as CST Microwave Studio.

Simulation and
results
• Most designs aim at L5 (1.176 GHz)
and either S-band (2.492 GHz).

• Slotted and inset feed structures are

widely used for bandwidth
LITERATURE enhancement.

SURVEY
• Simulation tools like CST Microwave
Studio and HFSS are commonly used.

• Trade-off exists between

compactness, gain, and bandwidth.
INTRODUCTION

A Patch antenna is a type of

antenna with a low profile, which
can be mounted on a surface. It
consists of a Planar Rectangular,
Circular, Triangular, or any
Geometrical sheet or “patch” of
metal, mounted over a large sheet
of metal called a ground plane.

Parameters
• Navic satellites provide services in two
frequency bands:

• L5-Band (1.176 GHz)

FREQUENCY • S-Band (2.492 GHz)

BANDS
• So, we first of all we design two individual
microstrip patch antennas for both the
frequency bands and then we convert it
into dual band patch antenna using inset-
feeding technique.
