The Lightning Thief

Percy Jackson is accused of stealing Zeus's master lightning bolt. He is a demi-god son of Poseidon, one of the "Big Three" gods whose children were forbidden. Percy goes on a quest with his friends Annabeth and Grover to clear his name, traveling to the underworld to see if Hades has the bolt. They discover the bolt's sheath but learn Ares stole it. Percy ultimately returns the bolt to Olympus to prove his innocence.

Characters
Percy is a demi-god of Poseidon , the sea god for a dad which is one of the Big Three. He was given a pen that changes into a sword when uncapped and returns to his pocket whenever its lost.

Annabeth is a half-blood with Athena the goddess of wisdom for a mom. She was given a baseball cap that turns her invisible.
Grover is a satyr who is Percys protector. If he succeeds in protecting Percy he gets his searchers license and gets to go search for the Great God Pan.

Problems
The problem in this story is that Zeus's master lightning bolt has been stolen and Percy is the top suspect. Hes the top suspect because he is Poseidon's son and Poseidon has stolen things before. Zeus thinks Poseidon used Percy to steal it because a god stealing another gods property, without using anyone, is the worst thing a god can do. Since Poseidon is part of the Big Three monsters keep attacking the three friends because the Big Three promised on the river Styx that they wouldnt have kids with mortals. The Big Three is Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades.

Resolution
The resolution is to go to the underworld and see if Hades has it, but on the way they meet Ares and he gives them a backpack that is the master bolts sheath but the bolt will only return to it if the backpack is in the underworld. The three friends also find out that Ares has taken Hade's Helm of Darkness. They escape the under world and Percy flys to New York and goes to the 600 level in the Empire State Building which is a secret way to Olympus. The top is Olympus so he heads to the palace and returns the master bolt.

Recommending
I recommend this book because it is full of emotion and action. When you read it you can picture the scene in your head, it is so descriptive. It brings myth to life, it has a minotaur, furies, Medusa, sirens, satyrs, centaurs, nymphs, titans, Kronos, and Gods. My favorite part is when the three friends do a quest for Ares, to get his shield from an abandoned water park. They find out its a trap set by a god who wants to humiliate Ares in front of the other gods.
