The Future Generation OF Mobile Communication: Waikar Pramod D

4G mobile networks will provide significantly higher data rates and capacity compared to previous generations of mobile technology. 4G aims to deliver data rates of 20-100 Mbps for high quality multimedia services like high resolution video. It will converge high speed internet and mobility, allowing users to access multimedia services from anywhere via an IP-based wireless network. 4G networks are expected to begin deployment in 2010 and will integrate multiple technologies to provide personalized services to users across different networks.

MOBILE SYSTEM GENERATIONS

First Generation (1G) mobile systems were designed to offer single service, i.e., speech. Second Generation (2G) mobile systems were also designed primarily to offer speech with a limited capability to offer data at low rates. Third Generation (3G) mobile systems are expected to offer high-quality multi-media services and operate in different environments

LIMITATIONS OF 3G
Difficulty of CDMA to provide higher data rates Need for continuously increasing data rate and

bandwidth to meet the multimedia requirements

Limitation of spectrum and its allocation Inability to roam between different services To introduce a better system with reduces cost

WHAT IS FOURTH GENERATION (4G) MOBILE SYSTEMS?

Fourth generation mobile communications systems that are

characterized by high-speed data rates at 20 to 100 Mbps,

suitable for high-resolution movies and television, multimedia Initial deployments are anticipated in 2010.

Convergence of High Speed Internet& Mobility

The Wireless Industry has grown at enormous pace over

the past decade.

More than a billion subscribers to cellular services are enjoying

the benefits of staying connected while on the move.

with the growth in Internet, a wide range of services are

accessed by users through a wired infrastructure.

The introduction of mobile Internet brought about by

the convergence of Mobile & Internet technologies is the future objective.

4G CONCEPT

The user has freedom and flexibility

to select any desired service with reasonable QoS and affordable price, anytime, anywhere.

PERSONAL MOBILITY

In addition to terminal mobility, personal mobility is a

concern in mobility management.

Personal mobility concentrates on the movement of users

instead of users terminals, and involves the provision of

personal communications and personalized operating

environments.
Once the callers agent identifies users location, the

callers agent can directly communicate with his agent.

PERSONAL MOBILITY

MULTIMEDIA VIDEO SERVICES

4G wireless systems are expected to deliver efficient

multimedia services at very high data rates.

Basically two types of video services:

bursting streaming.

Streaming is performed when a user requires real-time

video services,.
Bursting is basically file downloading using a buffer and

this is done at the highest data rate taking advantage the whole available bandwidth.

APPLICATIONS

VIRTUAL PRESENCE-

This means that 4G provides user services at all times, even if the user is off-site.

VIRTUAL NAVIGATION

4G provides users with virtual navigation through which a user can access a database of the streets, buildings etc.

TELE-GEOPROCESSING APPLICATIONS:

This is a combination of GIS (Geographical Information System) and GPS (Global Positioning System) in which a user can get the Location by querying

APPLICATIONS

TELEMEDICINE & EDUCATION-

4G will support remote health monitoring of patient for people who are interested in life long education , 4G provides the good opportunity.

CRISES MAAGEMENT-

Natural disasters can cause breakdown in communication system in todays world it might take 7 weeks to restore the system but in 4G it is expected to restore in few hours.

TECHNOLOGY IMPACT ON ECONOMY

Business High Speed Data Growth in Business and Services Rural Areas Remote Learning Telemedicine Consumers Healthy Competition among operators Cheaper Voice services Efficient and Effective Data services

GENERATION CHANGE

1G -2G new system (GSM), same service (Voice)

2G-3G new system (UMTS), new services (MM) 3G - 4G all systems, all services integrated provision of personalized enhanced

services over the most efficient/preferred networks (user profile)

CONCLUSION
As the history of mobile communications shows

attempts have been made to reduce a number of technologies to a single global standard.

4G seems to be a very promising generation of wireless communication that will change the peoples life in the wireless world.

4G is expected to be launched by 2010 and the world

is looking forward for the most intelligent technology that would connect the entire globe.
