in 1920’s London.
• We have to remember this
time is the era where were
recovering from WW1 and
then the build up and start
of WW2.
1940s
• The Third Man is a 1949 British film

noir, directed by Carol Reed and
starring Joseph Cotten, Alida
Valli, Orson Welles and Trevor
Howard. It is particularly
remembered for its atmospheric
cinematography, performances, and
musical score.
• This is around the time of WW2 so
this reflects certain dangers and
suspicion involved but also culture
that still influenced around this time.
1950s
• Rear Window is a 1954 American

suspense crime film(also classed as
a early psychological thriller)
directed by Alfred Hitchcock, written
by John Michael Hayes and based
on Cornell Woolrich's 1942 short
story "It Had to Be Murder".
Originally released by Paramount
Pictures, the film stars James
Stewart, Grace Kelly, Wendell
Corey, Thelma Ritter and Raymond
Burr.
• This film looks at the life of “Jeff
Jeffries” a photographer who’s leg is
broken looks into the life of his
neighbors due to his immobility.
1960s
• Paris Belongs to Us is a 1960

French mystery film directed by
Jacques Rivette and starring Betty
Schneider. The plot centres
around a group of actors
rehearsing Shakespeare's Pericles
for a performance that never
happens. The film operates as a
depiction of bohemian Parisian life
in the late 1950s.
• This films looks over a somewhat
Golden age of France where
economy is booming after
recovering from the war.
1970s and 1980s
• The Conversation is a 1974

American psychological thriller film
written, produced and directed by
Francis Ford Coppola and starring
Gene Hackman with supporting roles
by John Cazale, Allen
Garfield, Cindy Williams, Frederic
Forrest, Harrison Ford and Robert
Duvall.
• This era was the time of the cold war
and scandal America was in a state
of paranoia. So the use of CCTV
rose rapidly.
1990s
• Seven is a 1995 American thriller

film written by Andrew Kevin Walker,
directed by David Fincher, and
distributed by New Line Cinema. It
stars Brad Pitt and Morgan
Freeman, with Gwyneth Paltrow, R.
Lee Ermey, and Kevin Spacey in
supporting roles.
• In some ways this film shows a new
light on the age of modern films
because the main overview of this is
quite dark.
• I know this is slightly extreme but a
year before the release of this film
was the Rwandan Genocide which
involved the murder and slaughter of
thousands of people because of
there race.
21st century
• Now You See Me is a 2013
French-American thriller film
directed by Louis Leterrier.
The film stars Jesse
Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo,
Woody Harrelson, Mélanie
Laurent, Isla Fisher, Dave
Franco, MichaelCaine, and
Morgan Freeman.
• This film reflects the image
and idea around modern
fame and how large this
industry is in this day and
age.
