France's healthcare and education systems
The French health care system is generally
recognised as offering one of the best,
services of public health care in the world.
 The French health care system is funded in part
by obligatory health contributions levied on all
salaries, and paid by employers, employees and
the self employed; in part by central government
funding; and in part by users.
 France is the highest spender on healthcare
within the EU, in terms of GDP percentage. It
currently spends around 11.5% of GDP. Only
Switzerland (12.3%) spends more within the
EU/EFTA nations.
 France’s state health insurance covers between
70-100% of costs for things such as doctor visits
and hospital costs. Low income and long-term
sick patients receive 100% coverage.
 the cost of medicines in France is among the
lowest in Europe (about 10% less than in the UK)
Reimbursement of expenses for the purchase of
prescription drugs is at least 15% of their cost,
and in some cases - 100%.
 The primary care provider in France is therapists
(médecins généralistes). You can choose a therapist
yourself. In the future, it is this doctor who directs the
patient for examinations and issues referrals to
narrow specialists.
 The cost of the services of therapists in public clinics is
usually standard and ranges from 23 to 25 euros
 In France, every citizen has the right to undergo free
preventive examinations every two years. Specific
examination programs vary depending on age, risk
factors, and occupational conditions.
 According to the latest OECD/PISA world
rankings (2012), France dropped three places for
educational standards for 15-year olds. It is now
in 25th out of 65 countries, with 43% of students
having difficulty in mathematics and with a
widening equality gap within the school
population.
 Education in France from primary to secondary
i.e. 6 to 16 is free and required. Schools in France
are divided into public and private. About 20% of
all students in France study in private
educational institutions.
 The first educational stage - elementary
school - involves training for 5 years in a wide
range of disciplines. The secondary school is
called college: they study here for 4 years.
Studying proceeds in one of three directions:
general education, technical class or
professional.The duration of study in
general education lyceums is 3 years.
The bachelor's
dimple gives the
opportunity to
enter the
university
immediately
after graduation.
If you have a
professional
diploma, you will
need to unlearn a
year at a lyceum
in order to pass
the bachelor's
exam.
 Private schools in France can be roughly
divided into 2 categories - these are schools
that work under a contract with the state
(sous contrat d'association) and free schools
(école libre). Contract schools follow the
national educational plan and are partially
subsidized by the state.
 Cost of education :
 Private school -15 000-20 000€.
 Contracts-25000 in year.
 French universities provide about 800
programs that are taught entirely in English.
The course of higher education in France
consists of three cycles - two main (lasting
two to three years) and an additional one,
which is comparable to graduate school and
is a cycle of postgraduate education.
 State universities provide applicants with about
30% of budget-funded places, all the rest of the
education is paid. Studying at a state university
will cost about 150-500 EUR per year, this is the
registration fee, all other expenses are paid by
the state, students are also entitled to a
scholarship (about 100 EUR per month).
 In private universities, tuition costs from 10,000
to 20,000 EUR per year, depending on the
chosen specialty, per year of study.
