Cancer arising in the esophagus is known as esophageal cancer. It is more common in India than the US. Risk factors include tobacco, alcohol, hot liquids, Barrett's esophagus, GERD, and obesity. Symptoms include difficulty swallowing, heartburn, weight loss, coughing, hoarseness, vomiting, or bleeding.
