Professionalism
Professionalism isn’t just a set of appearances–neatness, good
grooming, “shop talk” and the likes. Nor is it just technical skill;
many technically skilled people are not really professional.
Professionalism is defined by who we are (inner character), what
we do (behavior exhibited) and how others perceive us (image
projected).

Definition of Work Ethics
 Ethics is a collection of values and behaviors which people feel are moral
 In other words, ―”ethics” is the name we give to our values or good
behavior
 Work ethic is the collection of all the values and actions that people feel
are appropriate in the work place

Work Ethics Performance Standards
To be successful in a career you must possess both strong occupational skills
and good work ethics.
The following are ten areas of work ethic traits and performance standards,
that you will be presented and expected to exhibit in the workplace
 Attendance
 Character
 Teamwork
 Appearance
 Attitude
 Productivity
 Organizational skills
 Communication
 Cooperation
 Respect
Business Ethics at Workplace
Reliable, consistent attendance is a requirement and
essential function of all staff positions. Employees are
expected to be punctual and dependable in order to meet
the needs of their department. When employees are
absent or tardy, work and service are interrupted and an
additional burden is placed on colleagues. Attendance
and reliability are important factors in evaluating
individual performance and continued employment.

How to Maintain Good Attendance
 Make work a high priority
 Know you schedule
 Make use of an alarm clock
 Get enough sleep
 Arrange your transportation
 Inform your supervisor of an absence

 Be honest in all situations

 With loyalty comes a sense of pride
 All employees are goodwill ambassadors and salespeople for their company
 Employees must keep company ―”secrets”
 The more the company succeeds the more you will succeed
 If you can not feel faithfulness and allegiance to your company, you should
seek a job elsewhere

Honesty is a sign of trust in the workplace. Honesty doesn't mean you say everything that
pops up in your mind. But, it does mean you tell the truth. Co-workers and clients depend on
you to make trustworthy decisions based on integrity.

Trustworthiness means people can count on you to get the job done and get it done right.
According to "Forbes", trustworthy leaders get expected results, even if it means doing extra
research or committing to a heavier work load.
 Dependability & reliability = trustworthiness
 Higher trust = higher pay!!
 Complete a task –earn some trust
 Employers quickly see who can handle responsibility

When employees have initiative, they are willing to see that work gets done.
