In his 1930 essay “Economic Possibilities for our Grandchildren,” John
Maynard Keynes predicted, “that the standard of life in progressive
countries one hundred years hence will be between four and eight times
as high as it is today.”
Using real GDP per capita as a proxy for standard of life, it appears
he was right.
