CV's and research.pptx
• Writing a good cv is the most
important piece of research needed
in the media industry as that defines
whether or not you'll get your desired
job role in the media industry, the
first thing you need to do to make a
good CV is organizing your info, an
employer will need to go through the
hundreds of CVS's from people
applying for the same job role, due to
all those CVS's an employer is just
going to quickly skim through a CV
looking for the crucial info such as
your education, your skills and your
experience, but just because some
particular employers may just skim
through your CV, that isn't an excuse
to put a reduced amount of quality or
quantity to your CV as some
employers may receive less CVS's and
read through each one, if they see
that your CV has less detail or depth
as the other CVS's they're going to be
way less likely to choose you over the
other applicants for the job role if
they see you don't put as much effort
into it as the other applicants which
reflects onto you and the impression
of dedication you'd put into the job
role
It's important to include your other roles
into a CV as it shows your overall
experience for the job role you're applying
for, it will show the skills you have and
skills you have picked up from other job
roles, this will add to your overall
professionalism as well as your dedication
to your work and the dedication you have
for whatever industry you want a job in.
Make sure that these explain the job role
well enough while keeping it short and to
the point as some employers won't have
the time to read through every last little
detail on your CV as mentioned before.
The past job roles/experience must be
relevant to the job role you're applying to,
otherwise it will make it seem as if you
haven't got the necessary experience for
the job you're wanting or no experience in
the industry.
Make sure to highlight the achievements
from your previous job roles as it will
show the employers what you bring to the
table and how you can do that job better
than the other candidates, these too have
to be to the point due to an employer's
lack of time
•Proofreading is one of the
most important part of a CV,
it's easy to make a mistake
when writing and that can
stop any chances you have at
getting your desired job role
and can show an employer
that you lack the two skills all
employers look for, which is
interest in the job and
attention to detail within the
workplace, poor spelling and
grammar on a CV can
essentially kill your chances
at the job compared to
applicants that have
proofread their CV's and
could be bothered to make it
look as professional as
possible
• Share your strengths, another
thing employers tend to look for
when reading through CV's is an
applicant's strengths related to
the industry of which the job
you're applying for is a part of.
• Your strengths can also make you
stand out to employers over
the other applicants competing
for the same job role and make
you look like the best candidate
for the job, while some strengths
may not be related to the job
role have include them as long as
they'd be relevant in a workplace
in general, don't include any that
wouldn't be relevant to any job
as you don't want to waste an
employer's time or make it seem
like you're trying to just fill in
gaps with strengths you don't
have
•The most important thing to
do with a CV is to keep it
updated, you constantly
learn new skills and get new
strengths and skills, those
new skills can help you stand
out so it's crucial to be
constantly updating your CV
to include new qualifications
or experience, anything new
you gain, add it to the CV, it's
a great way to make you look
like the best candidate for
the job
