The Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation has launched the 'National Water Quality Sub-Mission' to ensure access to clean tap water for all by 2030, with an allocation of ₹25,000 crore. The initiative aims to address water quality issues in 28,000 habitations severely impacted by arsenic and fluoride contamination by 2021. The government is also supporting 35 research and development projects to improve drinking water quality in rural areas.
