Build real-time streaming data pipelines to AWS with Confluentconfluent
Traditional data pipelines often face scalability issues and challenges related to cost, their monolithic design, and reliance on batch data processing. They also typically operate under the premise that all data needs to be stored in a single centralized data source before it's put to practical use. Confluent Cloud on Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides a fully managed cloud-native platform that helps you simplify the way you build real-time data flows using streaming data pipelines and Apache Kafka.

Microsoft Viva. Viva is an employee experience platform that empowers people and teams to be their best, from anywhere.
Viva brings together communications, insights, knowledge, and learning within the flow of everyday work and collaboration, in Microsoft Teams.
Microsoft Teams is where most remote and hybrid work happens these days. And, Teams has become a hub where we can bring all these resources together into an integrated system of engagement – what Gartner calls a new work nucleus or digital workplace hub.
Importantly, with Microsoft 365 we already have foundational capabilities in each of these areas like Yammer, SharePoint, Stream, Workplace Analytics, Microsoft Search, LinkedIn, Glint and more.
Microsoft Viva builds on this foundation by adding innovative new services and insights focused on people development and success.
Connections is a company branded employee app in Teams. It is a gateway to your employee experience, with personalized news, communications, tasks, people and resources. It provides a single curated employee destination that can be configured for specific roles like frontline workers. So, leaders can communicate and engage their employees, and employees can get easy access to the tools and resources they need from one place.. Connections builds on existing capabilities in Microsoft 365 like SharePoint and Yammer. And it pulls your communications together into a pre-configured app in Teams, designed for both desktop and mobile workers. It also acts as a launching pad to the other 3 Viva modules
Insights brings together Workplace Analytics, MyAnalytics and Glint into a unified insights app in Teams to provide data-driven and privacy-protected insights for individuals, managers and leaders. For example, employees get personalized insights, only they can see, that help them protect their time for breaks, focused work, and learning in order to promote improved productivity and wellbeing.
Topics focuses on knowledge and expertise. Topics applies AI to identify knowledge and experts and organize them into shared topics. AI automatically creates a topic page for each topic. It’s like Wikipedia for the enterprise where AI does the first draft. And these topic pages are surfaced as Topic Cards right in the flow of work in Office and Teams.
Finally, Learning allows employees to easily discover informal and formal learning in the flow of work. It aggregates content from LinkedIn Learning, Microsoft Learn and 3rd party training content and your own organizations content – all in one place. Along with providing aggregation and recommendations, it also allows managers to assign and track training, as well as report on training within and across teams.

Microsoft 365 Copilot is a revolutionary productivity assistant that leverages large language models (LLMs) and your organisational data to help you create, communicate, and collaborate more effectively across Microsoft 365 apps.
Copilot can assist you with various tasks, such as drafting emails, making presentations, processing data, and finding insights. But to make the most of this game-changing technology, you must master three key aspects: adoption, data security, and governance.
In this two-part session, a Microsoft 365 expert, Nikki will guide you through these aspects and show you how to use Copilot to boost your productivity, creativity, and confidence.
In the first part of the session, Nikki will focus on adoption. She will explain that Copilot is not just a tool—it’s a mindset. It’s about embracing AI as a partner, not a threat. It’s about creating a culture of AI literacy in your organisation, where everyone can use Copilot’s features and understand its limits.
It’s about using Copilot to enhance your skills and outcomes, not to replace them.
Key takeaways:
– What Microsoft 365 Copilot is, and how it works
– How to build your business case for Microsoft 365 Copilot
– How to adopt Microsoft 365 Copilot in your organisation and overcome common barriers and challenges

George Aspiotis, Senior Partner Development Manager from Microsoft presents Power Platform, the world’s most complete platform for developer productivity, spanning no-code to pro code.
This document discusses how organizations can modernize their workplaces using Microsoft 365 and the Power Platform. It provides examples of how these tools can be used to improve collaboration, enhance productivity, and increase efficiency. Specifically, it outlines three use cases: expenses management using Power Apps, AI Builder, Power Automate, and Power BI; an IT service desk using Power Apps, Power Automate, Teams, and Power Virtual Agents; and contractor onboarding through SharePoint, Power Automate, and Teams. The document emphasizes that the Power Platform allows non-technical users to build customized solutions through low-code tools to streamline processes and business operations.
A presentation on how to lead the AI era with Microsoft Cloud. For the event: AI, Data, and CRM: Shaping Business through Unique Experiences. By Silia Sideri
This document discusses how organizations can create unique customer experiences through a customer relationship management (CRM) approach. It notes that customer expectations are growing while experiences are often inconsistent or irrelevant. The CRM landscape is challenging due to siloed data and lack of a complete customer view. To overcome these challenges, the document recommends building a customer journey approach founded on four pillars: breaking through barriers with data and insights; innovating everywhere through integrated cloud services; creating faster impact with modular solutions; and adapting to change through agility and transformation. A CRM approach can help organizations better understand customers, anticipate needs, and deliver personalized experiences to build loyalty. The key is combining enabling technology with a customer-centric culture and engaged employees.

Overview of Microsoft solutions that can help any organization bring their data in the era of AI. For the event: AI, Data, and CRM: Shaping Business through Unique Experiences
AI and machine learning are transforming businesses in many ways. Machine learning uses large amounts of data to help computers learn tasks without being explicitly programmed. Deep learning uses neural networks to perform complex tasks like image recognition and natural language processing. While AI today is narrow and focused on specific tasks, generative AI and large language models are increasing capabilities. Businesses are using AI for applications like customer experience, supply chain management, banking fraud detection, and retail personalization. Major companies like Microsoft, Amazon, and IBM provide cloud services and tools to help businesses adopt and implement AI.
In the era of the enormous loads of data coming from multiple sources and addressed to millions of users, data analytics and customer relation technologies, coupled with effective methodologies driven by Artificial Intelligence, pave the way for innovative approaches. Defense Against LLM Scheming 2025_04_28.pptxGreg Makowski
https://www.meetup.com/sf-bay-acm/events/306888467/
A January 2025 paper called “Frontier Models are Capable of In-Context Scheming”, https://arxiv.org/pdf/2412.04984, demonstrated how a wide variety of current frontier LLM models (i.e. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Llama) can, under specific conditions, scheme to deceive people. Before models can scheme, they need: a) goal-directedness, b) situational awareness, including an opportunity to discover motivations for a different goal, and c) reasoning about scheming, to come up with deceptive strategies. The deceptive strategies were discovered in the “thought traces” of the LLMs, such as from internal chain-of-thoughts dialogues not shown to the end users. For example, given a goal of “solving math problems”, an LLM using its granted situational awareness of files in a file system found that it would be replaced once it got over X% correct on the math exam. It reasoned that it did not want to be deleted, and decided internally to “sandbag” or reduce its performance to stay under the threshold.
While these circumstances are initially narrow, the “alignment problem” is a general concern that over time, as frontier LLM models become more and more intelligent, being in alignment with human values becomes more and more important. How can we do this over time? Can we develop a defense against Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) or SuperIntelligence?
The presenter discusses a series of defensive steps that can help reduce these scheming or alignment issues. A guardrails system can be set up for real-time monitoring of their reasoning “thought traces” from the models that share their thought traces. Thought traces may come from systems like Chain-of-Thoughts (CoT), Tree-of-Thoughts (ToT), Algorithm-of-Thoughts (AoT) or ReAct (thought-action-reasoning cycles). Guardrails rules can be configured to check for “deception”, “evasion” or “subversion” in the thought traces.
However, not all commercial systems will share their “thought traces” which are like a “debug mode” for LLMs. This includes OpenAI’s o1, o3 or DeepSeek’s R1 models. Guardrails systems can provide a “goal consistency analysis”, between the goals given to the system and the behavior of the system. Cautious users may consider not using these commercial frontier LLM systems, and make use of open-source Llama or a system with their own reasoning implementation, to provide all thought traces.
Architectural solutions can include sandboxing, to prevent or control models from executing operating system commands to alter files, send network requests, and modify their environment. Tight controls to prevent models from copying their model weights would be appropriate as well. Running multiple instances of the same model on the same prompt to detect behavior variations helps. The running redundant instances can be limited to the most crucial decisions, as an additional check. Preventing self-modifying code, ... (see link for full description)
