Sleeping. Humans do it about one third of their time alive. Rather than being a waste of time, sleep is of vital importance. The effects of insufficient sleep are numerous and form a major part of my PhD research, where I looked into the effects of sleeping 4 hours instead of 8 hours for as long as 5 nights.
