The document analyzes and compares the design elements of three different sixth form college magazines:
1) King Edward IV college magazine uses an unconventionally tilted masthead and hanging lettering to seem more informal for a student-created magazine. Photos are at a canted angle to appear less formal as well.
2) Blackpool sixth form magazine has a sleek modern masthead suggesting it keeps up with students. The cover is in a poster layout to entice readers. Images on the contents page are not anchored to specific pages.
3) Stoke Newington 'spotlight' magazine unusually places the masthead at the bottom, suggesting an arts focus. The cover features illuminated objects on a black background
The document discusses various technologies and software the author learned about and improved their skills with during the process of constructing their product. This includes gaining a better understanding of Blogger and how to use it as an online portfolio, learning HTML coding, using Prezi to brainstorm and present ideas, utilizing Google Docs for surveys and feedback, improving photo editing skills in iPhoto and Photoshop including advanced techniques like airbrushing, and developing photography skills through test shoots and using lighting equipment.

How to Scale Operations for a Multi-Cloud Platform using PCFVMware Tanzu
What’s in a cloud platform? Turns out, often several clouds! Companies automate operations in a cloud by treating all components as commodities. However, at enterprise- scale, different business requirements dictate deploying multiple clouds including:
- Hybrid infrastructures and multiple cloud providers
- Compliance with country privacy laws and different security standards
- Specialization requests
The most advanced Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) customers engineer their entire cloud platform, including their multitude of PCF instances, as a product. They create pervasive automation, treat their infrastructure as code, and continuously test and update their platform with delivery pipelines.
In this webinar we’ll discuss how companies are scaling operations of their multi-cloud platforms with Pivotal Cloud Foundry.
We’ll cover:
- Why enterprises deploy multiple clouds
- What operational challenges this causes
- How PCF customers are applying DevOps techniques and tools to platform automation
- An idealized tool stack for a engineering a multi-cloud platform at scale
- How to improve your platform engineering
We thank you in advance for joining us.

The document discusses the concept of "Docs Like Code", which treats documentation like code by storing docs in version control systems, using plain text formats, and integrating doc writing and publishing into the same workflow as software development. It provides the case study of Apache Pulsar, which uses GitHub and other tools to collaborate effectively on docs between developers, writers and users. Benefits include better doc quality and syncing with code through continuous integration/deployment of docs.

Synchronization of Xray test artifacts enabled by Backbone's new Java API. The document discusses Backbone's key features for syncing issues across systems like Jira and custom apps. It describes how the Backbone Java API allows mapping fields selectively or transforming them during sync. Custom fields from other apps can be synced by either waiting for Backbone support or building custom mappings using the Java API. The Backbone Xray Connector already supports syncing issue types and some xray fields, with future development coordinated with customers.

DocOps – Agile Dokumentationserstellung in der Praxis K15t
Conference talk in German at the tekom Frühjahrstagung 2015 about a new collaborative approach for developing technical content, presented by K15t Software consultant Martin Häberle on April 24, 2015
This document discusses why the author's company loves using Git. It notes that Git adoption has grown 30% over three years according to a 2013 survey. The company fully integrates Git into its development chain, using it alongside tools like Jira for planning, IntelliJ for coding, Bamboo for building, and Bitbucket for code sharing and quality assurance. An example workflow is provided where a customer reports an issue, a Jira ticket is created, development occurs in Git branches, code is verified in Bitbucket, and the fix is released.

This presentation explores code comprehension challenges in scientific programming based on a survey of 57 research scientists. It reveals that 57.9% of scientists have no formal training in writing readable code. Key findings highlight a "documentation paradox" where documentation is both the most common readability practice and the biggest challenge scientists face. The study identifies critical issues with naming conventions and code organization, noting that 100% of scientists agree readable code is essential for reproducible research. The research concludes with four key recommendations: expanding programming education for scientists, conducting targeted research on scientific code quality, developing specialized tools, and establishing clearer documentation guidelines for scientific software.

Exceptional Behaviors: How Frequently Are They Tested? (AST 2025)Andre Hora
Exceptions allow developers to handle error cases expected to occur infrequently. Ideally, good test suites should test both normal and exceptional behaviors to catch more bugs and avoid regressions. While current research analyzes exceptions that propagate to tests, it does not explore other exceptions that do not reach the tests. In this paper, we provide an empirical study to explore how frequently exceptional behaviors are tested in real-world systems. We consider both exceptions that propagate to tests and the ones that do not reach the tests. For this purpose, we run an instrumented version of test suites, monitor their execution, and collect information about the exceptions raised at runtime. We analyze the test suites of 25 Python systems, covering 5,372 executed methods, 17.9M calls, and 1.4M raised exceptions. We find that 21.4% of the executed methods do raise exceptions at runtime. In methods that raise exceptions, on the median, 1 in 10 calls exercise exceptional behaviors. Close to 80% of the methods that raise exceptions do so infrequently, but about 20% raise exceptions more frequently. Finally, we provide implications for researchers and practitioners. We suggest developing novel tools to support exercising exceptional behaviors and refactoring expensive try/except blocks. We also call attention to the fact that exception-raising behaviors are not necessarily “abnormal” or rare.

28. Scroll Viewport - A theming add-on on steroids
• Disconnect the authoring from the design
• Have multiple Viewports per space
• URL and permission control over which view is used to display the content
• Style with HTML, CSS or JavaScript
• Use Confluence as a help center
• Display your content beautifully and even responsively styled
31. What is Scroll Versions about?
• Version management
• Manage multiple versions in a single space
• Work in parallel with the software development process
• Keep pace with the development team
• Use Confluence as a documentation platform
• One system fits all, Confluence as the only platform
• Publish content with a few clicks
• Have pages with the same page title within a single space
• Manage different product variants on the space level
32. • They needed a solution that can handle the complexity of the documentation
• The tech writers need to be able to work parallel with the development process
• Better reuse of content between Cloud and Server documentation sets
• Provide a better experience to readers
Why is Atlassian using it?
34. • Each Atlassian product typically has
• a single space for Cloud documentation
• multiple spaces for Server documentation
• one for the latest version
• a single one for each earlier version
Spaces
37. Version concept
• A Version is a collection of page edits that can be published at the same time
• Versions can reflect the actual versions of your product release cycle
• Every version inherits the edits made in previous, dependent versions
• no manual content copy needed, only make actual changes
39. • In Scroll Versions a Doc-
Administrator creates a version
called 5.9 BTF
• The tech writers can select this
version and make page edits
associated with that version
