Climate change
Climate change is the change in the earth’s
weather conditions over a long period of time.

Changes in the climate has a tremendous effect on
us and other organisms.

It effects food production, water availability,
wildlife and health.
Physicists should use more efficient system.
Biologists could help protect wildlife by
continuing to research and observe them so they
can specifically determine how climate change has
an effect on them.
Chemists could help deal with oil spills by
creating compounds to neutralize the effects oil
has on the environment.
 Some politicians require the use of carbon dioxide and
fossil fuels for industrialization purposes. Which
builds a strong economy but has a bad impact on the
    environment.

 Politicians could create laws for the better of the
environment by limiting the percentage of wasteful
industrialization. As well as switch into better and
    more efficient systems.

 Society wants oil because it makes a powerful
economy. Oil is a limited resource, therefore it is high
in value. The best thing to do would be to get off oil
and use a different resource like wind power or
    electricity.
In order to stabilize the concentration of greenhouse gases,
the emissions would have to stop increasing. World-wide
investments will have to be put in cutting down technologies
and in new energy sources.
The longer we wait to make a difference in emission
reduction the harder it will be to solve the issue, and the more of
a risk there is in severe climate change impacts.
 The climate is getting warmer in the far north
regions which is effecting animals like polar bears
    and their adaptations.
 Risks of extreme weather conditions such as heat
waves, heavy rainfall, over floating and forest fires.
 Sea ice, seasonal snow cover, glaciers , ice caps,
permafrost and river and lake ice are all indicators
    climate change.
 Sea ice thickens has increased and the annual
maximum ice area has shrunk less rapidly.
 Quick changes caused by global warming are taking place in
the Arctic that threaten the survival of this species.
 Global Warming is melting the polar ice caps which is
making it hard for polar bears to hunt prey.
 In the Arctic ice cap continues to melt and if it keeps
happening and if we don’t do something about it, the polar
bears will become too thin to reproduce and they will
become extinct by the end of this century.
Transportation:
To encourage people to use
public transit more
                                            Cons
Pros -less privacy
-Reduces the amount of pollutions and -less space
greenhouse gases emission -More waiting time
Riding a bus is 79 times safer than riding -In winter its harder to wait for long
a car because it is cold
                                           -Unsanitary
-Studies have shown people who used -More risks in flu seasons
public transport are healthier because of
the amount of walking it takes to walk to
and from bus stops.

-According to a study done in the US
families that use public transport can
save up to $6 200 annually by using
public transport.
Energy:
Development of renewable
energy sources that do not
emit greenhouse gases.
Pros Cons
-Reduces greenhouse gas emissions. -it is difficult to generate large quantities
-Require less maintenance. of electricity.
-Better for the environment.
-It would be easier to do in Yellowknife - Renewable energy usually relies on the
because it is a small town. weather for its source of power. Hydro
generators require rain to fill dams to
supply water. Wind turbines need wind
to turn the blades, and solar panels need
sunshine to collect heat and make
                                           electricity.

-The current cost of renewable energy
                                           technology is quite high.
For our transportation we can develop a new
public transit system that includes more bus stops,
more buses, more seats to carry more people, all day
transit timings, and less time consuming bus
schedules.

For the development of renewable energy
source instead of the use of fossil fuels we could use
electricity. This way we will never run out of the
energy source, and its way better for the
environment. We could use electric cars, this will save
us lots of oil and money. It’s a win win situation!
