Network would achieve intelligence through intelligent transmitter and receiver terminals The Tx/Rx would estimate the channel and optimize for best Eb/No Error performance would be enhanced trough channel coding Error detection would need lesser redundancy but erroneous message has to be repeated. Forward Error Correction requires larger number of parity bits and the faulty bits are located

- 13. Fiber-Optic Communication Fiber-optic communication is a method of transmitting information from one place to another by sending light through an optical fiber. The light forms an electromagnetic carrier wave that is modulated to carry information. First developed in the 1970s, fiber-optic communication systems have revolutionized the telecommunications industry and played a major role in the advent of the Information Age. Because of its advantages over electrical transmission, the use of optical fiber has largely replaced copper wire communications in core networks in the developed world.

- 15. Conclusions : Intelligent Communication Network is an essential ingredient for a Smart City. Broadband Internet Connectivity is required for implementation of a Smart City. Judicious blending of wired and wireless options is required to achieve an optimum throughput economically. A Fiber backbone with a wireless led mile option turns out to be an optimum solution.
