Gender based violence • Gender-based violence (GBV) is violence that is directed against a person on the basis of gender (EIGA). • GBV against women and girls is much higher than men and boys in India like across the world • In this presentation, the focus is on GBV against women and girls- which interlock with violence based on other identities • Such violence may be perpetuated by men and women
- 4. What is access to justice? Access to justice is defined as the ability of women and girls who have faced GBV to seek and obtain a remedy in keeping with human rights standards through formal or (progressive) informal institutions of justice (USIP, n.d, parantheses added)
