Oracle had its yearly user confernce, Oracle Cloud World in Las Vegas from September 10th till 12th 2024 at the Venetian Convention Center. Oracle is on a roll across its product suite, fuelled by getting its cloud strategy and partner strategy right, with AWS being the last of the big three cloud providers who can deploy the Oracle database in the cloud. Oracle is ready to compete on the benefits of its database across the different clouds. The datalake on the Analytics side is going to be key to form a repository for the data foundation for AI. The HeatWave database keeps pushing acros its wide portfolio and is the leading open source database from a depth and breadth perspective. Similar push on the AI side - particular the push on Manufacturing and AI. On the HCM side Oracle leads with AI adoption, push for Redwood UX, more payroll support and native workfroce managment support.

Amazon web services (AWS)
The Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a long-lasting retailer in offering cloud servers and storage database to industries looking for their data center infrastructures. In the initial stage of 2019, AWS profits produced by 41 percent, to 7.7 billion USD dollars from 5.44 billion dollars a year.
Oracle
A new arrival in the market, Oracle Cloud can’t claim millions of users transversely from the top of the positions in the statuses of cloud service providers. Though, in 2015, this powerful producer of software development server and hardware servers have launched the public as an IaaS offering that was later modified. Now it appears that Oracle is assembly steam and is set to become the best retailer in the future.
Differences between Oracle Cloud vs AWS
Cost
AWS is normally more inexpensive than Oracle. In September 2016, declared Amazon’s lead in the public cloud had ended, but we are prevaricating our bets. The register presently described that Oracle, “efficiently doubles license payments to run its stuff in AWS”, which may be the incorrect way. Oracle makes good on their potentials that their cloud will be faster and inexpensive.
Capability
Computing AWS includes Amazon EC2 virtual servers, container service for Amazon elastic, auto-scaling of Amazon EC2, AWS elastic for web development applications, AWS lambda that adapts code to actions, VMware Cloud, and other functionality. Oracle combines Infrastructure as A Service (IaaS), Platform as A Service (PaaS), SaaS, and Database as A Service (DaaS) resolution and offers an extensive range of cloud services and products such as app developers of container, mobile, blockchain, database, IoT, Java, and other cloud services, business analytics that embraces analytics, business intelligence, Big data, data visualization, Cloud for customer services, Cloud infrastructure and so on.
Easy customization
On another side, several AWS facilities not only deliver businesses with advanced abilities and also extensive knowledge for their app developers and support. And also, difficult for companies to be able in-service updates and innovations. Sometimes it is hard for the technology-based companies and AWS partners, not to allusion-maintained services providers. But the cloud ensures comfort regulation to make it a chance that the specific company’s business meets requirements as possible and may now require further Oracle cloud components.

Progress Report - Workday Analyst Summit 2025 - Change fo the better comingHolger Mueller I had the opportunity to attend Workday's yearly analyst summit, held at the Silverado Resort in Napa Valley, from April 20th - 22nd 2025. Very well attended with ERP and HCM analysts - as well a large portion of Workday executives. It is good to see Workday showing up with a massive audience to listen to analyst feedback. It was the first analyst presentation of the new Chief Commercial Officer, Rob Enslin and new President Produt and Technology Gerrit Kazmaier. They were mainly in listening mode, but identified (correctly) 'speed' as the #1 priority of things to change at Workday.
Workday has addressed pitfalls in its 2024 approach for AI and for the better: Running in the publich cloud, training on customer data, being close to real time as possible. With 1600 customers in the public cloud, Workday has made progress here as well - but has also a proven architecture - courtsey of Workday Extend in place - to move data and models back and forward. The other key takeaway is how important it is for Workday to partner - via Extend. This is in synch with one year ago with the 'Power of 3' strategy was unveiled. On the payroll side the partner approach has shown progress, and with the Payrll Control Center Workday has a modern payroll management solution in place - that now will have to see wider customer adoption and 'battle' testing. No surrprise a lot of traction in the install base for VNDLY - the gig economy is happening. No major UX updates on the horizon - which may also be good as customers and workday are settling on good level of UX. Overall the summit felt a little like someone left the parking break on - in contrast to previous years. Which is understandable with the leadership changes at the top of both business and product organization. From the changes that were communicated and can be educately guesses - it is all changes into the right direction into a more agile, faster and more modern / appropriate for AI future architecture of Worday applications.

Google Cloud shows an impressive advance on infrastrucure and platform side. Google Cloud builds out its positon as leader for AI powered Next Generation Applications. Google makes agent creation easier, brings them to on premises with GDC, partners with Nvidia for GPUs on premises. Cloud WAN opens the Google Network, another differentiator. Progress Report - Workday Analyst Summit 2025 - Change fo the better comingHolger Mueller I had the opportunity to attend Workday's yearly analyst summit, held at the Silverado Resort in Napa Valley, from April 20th - 22nd 2025. Very well attended with ERP and HCM analysts - as well a large portion of Workday executives. It is good to see Workday showing up with a massive audience to listen to analyst feedback. It was the first analyst presentation of the new Chief Commercial Officer, Rob Enslin and new President Produt and Technology Gerrit Kazmaier. They were mainly in listening mode, but identified (correctly) 'speed' as the #1 priority of things to change at Workday.
Workday has addressed pitfalls in its 2024 approach for AI and for the better: Running in the publich cloud, training on customer data, being close to real time as possible. With 1600 customers in the public cloud, Workday has made progress here as well - but has also a proven architecture - courtsey of Workday Extend in place - to move data and models back and forward. The other key takeaway is how important it is for Workday to partner - via Extend. This is in synch with one year ago with the 'Power of 3' strategy was unveiled. On the payroll side the partner approach has shown progress, and with the Payrll Control Center Workday has a modern payroll management solution in place - that now will have to see wider customer adoption and 'battle' testing. No surrprise a lot of traction in the install base for VNDLY - the gig economy is happening. No major UX updates on the horizon - which may also be good as customers and workday are settling on good level of UX. Overall the summit felt a little like someone left the parking break on - in contrast to previous years. Which is understandable with the leadership changes at the top of both business and product organization. From the changes that were communicated and can be educately guesses - it is all changes into the right direction into a more agile, faster and more modern / appropriate for AI future architecture of Worday applications.

Google Cloud shows an impressive advance on infrastrucure and platform side. Google Cloud builds out its positon as leader for AI powered Next Generation Applications. Google makes agent creation easier, brings them to on premises with GDC, partners with Nvidia for GPUs on premises. Cloud WAN opens the Google Network, another differentiator. On the PaaS side, AlloyDB gains capabilties and is available via 3rd party on other clouds as well. Firestore gets MongoDB compatibility, Oracle @Google Cloud shows traction, and developers get access for Gemini across Firebase Studio.

Well attended with over 800 attendees it was the middle scale event that is working well these days. Infor is doubling down on verticals, with a new tool to deliver outcomes - business maps. The new Process Mining will help Infor customers to figure out 'what is going on' inside of their Infor apps. The question is - can Infor build all the needed automation that customers need, its strong EAP with Infor OS gives great options here - but bigger ERP competitors have already stated they cannot build it al.

Event Report - Workday RIsing = Workday keeps Rising, across HCM, Platform, ...Holger Mueller Holger Mueller attended Workday's user conference Rising, held in Las Vegas from September 16th-19th 2024, very well attended with over 30k attendees. The event was well organized, customers were happy.
Workday showed good traction across its portfolio. It announced its AI offering with Illuminate. But it clearly needs more work, as offerings are build on the architecture shared in Spring this year, then there is the partnership with Salesforce (CEO Marc Benioff was remotely available for a chat with CEO Carl Eschenbach), and then Illuminate. Workday wikll have to do some message clarification cleanup. Much brighter is the pictture for the Workday EAP platform, Workday Extend - that sees massive adoption. Workday also (implicitly) admitted that it cannot built it alone, Extend is critical to get customers and partners on board. Partners are also key the expedited implementatiokn of Workday via Industry Accelerators. Workday is doubling down on payroll, with a new Payroll Connect interface - and renewed partner efforts to tackle global payroll needs. The Workday UX will see its most significatn renivation with a move to conversational UX, a key move that will help with existing UX challenges.
Overall a good Workday Rising, with customers and partners feeling energized on the direction of Workday. Now the momentum has to materiazlize in go-lives, happy customers, happy employees and happy partners.

Influence of Career Development on Retention of Employees in Private Univers...publication11 Retention of employees in universities is paramount for producing quantity and quality of human capital for
economic development of a country. Turnover has persistently remained high in private universities despite
employee attrition by institutions, which can disrupt organizational stability, quality of education and reputation.
Objectives of the study included performance appraisal, staff training and promotion practices on retention of
employees. Correlational research design and quantitative research were adopted. Total population was 85 with a
sample of 70 which was selected through simple random sampling. Data collection was through questionnaire and
analysed using multiple linear regression with help of SPSS. Results showed that both performance appraisal
(t=1.813, P=.076, P>.05) and staff training practices (t=-1.887, P=.065, P>.05) were statistical insignificant while
promotion practices (t=3.804, P=.000, P<.05) was statistically significantly influenced retention of employees.
The study concluded that performance appraisal and staff training has little relationship with employee retention
whereas promotion practices affect employee retention in private universities. Therefore, it was recommended
that organizations renovate performance appraisal and staff training practices while promoting employees
annually, review salary structure, ensure there is no biasness and promotion practices should be based on meritocracy. The findings could benefit management of private universities, Government and researchers.
