2. Preparing for Holy Communion
• Jesus, who is the greatest friend we
could ever have,
• He is eager to be with those who love
Him.
• Today You will realize the importance
of preparing well to receive Holy
Communion,
• since it is Jesus Himself whom you
receive.
3. They Invite the Coach to their House
• Jim love play baseball.
– He worked very hard to make the team.
– They had a good coach.
• The coach would sometimes visit the families of the
players.
• Although Jim was one of the newest members on
the team, one day his parents asked the coach,
– “would you like to come over to our house on Sunday?”
• The coach was very kind and promise that he would
be there at 4 o’clock.
4. Jim was not Ready
• When Sunday came, and it was bout 5
minutes to 4,
1. can you guess what Jim was doing?
2. What would you be doing if you had invited someone
like the coach to your house?
• Jim was sitting on the floor inform of the TV.
– We was eating chocolate,
– and he had a soft drink beside him.
– His hands had gotten sticky, and he had wipe them on
his good shirt
• He did not look very clean.
5. The Coach was Happy to see Jim
• Then, at 4 o'clock, the doorbell rang.
– Jim’s mother opened the door, but Jim did not even
greet the coach;
– instead, he stayed in front of the television to see the
end of the program!
• The coach came in , looked around and
said,
– “Hi, Jim, I am here.
– I came to see you, and I brought you a gift.
– I have been looking forward to visiting with you family.”
6. Jim Did not Pay Attention
• Jim did not pay attention to the coach at all!
1. How do you think the coach felt?
– The coach was disappointed and sad.
2. I f you liked someone and invited him to your
house, what would you do when he arrived?
a) Listen for the doorbell,
b) Greet the person nicely
c) And welcome him
d) Show him around, and talk with him, etc.
8. Not Paying Attention
• Here is Jim again on Sunday morning.
– He is at Mass.
– He is sitting in the front, but not paying attention.
• When it is time for Holy Communion, he walks up walks
up with his parents,
– but he is looking side to side, to see who is there.
• Jesus is holding Jesus in the Eucharist, and gives Holy
Communion to Jim.
• It looks like bread and tastes like bread, but it is not
bread any more because the priest just changed it into the
Body of Jesus .
• Jim just received the Body of Christ, the greatest guest,
– and more than a guest!
9. Jim was not Listening
• What do you think he did next?
a) He hurried back to this pew and knelt down, but he did not pray at all.
b) He was looking around,
c) and then he dug into his pockets to see what was in them.
d) He even pushed the boy next to him, and started to laugh.
• All that time, Jesus was right there within him, in his
soul.
– Jesus came, because he loves Him
– and wanted to speak to Jim in his heart.
• But Jim was not listening or paying attention at all.
– He missed Jesus.
10. Say Something to Jesus
• What do you think Jim could say to Jesus at this holy time?
1) Thank Jesus for coming
2) Tell Him that he loves Him,
3) Ask Jesus to help him to be good, obedient and loving
4) Ask Jesus to bless his parents, brothers, and sisters, teachers, friends, etc..
5) Ask forgiveness
• Jesus looks forward very much to come to us in Holy
Communion.
1. What would you say to Jesus when you receive Him in Holy
Communion?
2. How can you prepare to welcome Jesus?
– Keep your soul clean from sin
– Pray and ask Jesus to help you to do loving cats for Him.
11. How to Receive Jesus
1) If a person has any mortal sins,
– he must go to confession before receiving Jesus.
2) Out of respect for Jesus, we do not eat or drink
anything for one hour before receiving Holy
Communion.
– We can drink water at any time.
3) When you go up to receive Jesus, how do you walk up?
– With respect
4) And how do you receive Jesus?
• (Have a heart-to-heart conversation with our Lord)
13. Talk to Jesus
• During Mass, don’t talk to anyone except
Jesus.
– Join in the singing and in the prayers we say out loud
during Mass.
• Think about Jesus,
– and how much He wants to come to you.
– How much He loves you.
• Tell Jesus that you believe in Him
– and love Him with all your Heart.
– Tell Him that you hope that He will help you
14. Practice to Receive Jesus
1) Let us practice how
you will walk
2)and how you will hold
your hands.
3)Or open your mouth and
put out your tongue
when you receive Jesus.
15. Talk to Jesus Everyday
• This week, tell Jesus every day how much you love Him,
• and that you can hardly wait to receive Him in Holy Communion.
1) Do you have to go to church to say that to Jesus?
2) Do you think Jesus can hear you even if you don’t say anything
aloud?
3) Can Jesus hear you if you speak to Him in your heart when you are on
your own way to school?
4) Can He hear you in the morning? During the day?
5) How many times can you speak to Jesus during the day?
• If you speak to Jesus often, He will be very pleased to be with you
– because He loves you and He wants to be with you,
– and with all those who want to receive Him with a loving heart.
