Mobile Fronthaul Solution
Centralized – RAN ArchitectureCentralized – RAN Architecture
Challenges
The rapid deployment of 3G and
4G, along with the unrelenting
growth of video, social media and
cloud applications accessed via
smart phones and tables , is
creating the need for more
bandwidth to the cell tower and
setting the stage for a move to 5G
wireless technology.

Build up C-RAN architecture
C-RAN (cloud radio access network) is a centralized, cloud computing-based architecture
for radio access networks (RAN) that enables large-scale deployment, collaborative radio
technology support, and real-time virtualization capabilities. It is an evolution of the current
wireless communication system and uses the latest common public radio interface (CPRI)
standard, coarse or dense wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM / DWDM) technology
and millimeter wave (MM wave) transmission for long distance signals. The "C" in C-RAN
can alternatively stand for centralized or collaborative.
Development
History
 It was first introduced by China Mobile Research Institute in April 2010
in Beijing, China
 KT, a telecom operator in the Republic of Korea, introduced a Cloud Computing
Center (CCC) system in their 3G(WCDMA/HSPA) and 4G(LTE/LTE-A) network
in 2011 and 2012
Evolution of Base Station Architecture
 All-in-One Macro Base Station
 Distributed Base Station
