This research article presents a novel auto-tuning method for fractional order PI/PD controllers, which addresses the challenge of tuning when a mathematical model is unavailable. The proposed approach utilizes a simple experiment to determine essential process parameters—magnitude, phase, and phase slope—without the need for a process model, ensuring robustness in closed-loop systems. Simulation results demonstrate the efficacy of the method across different process types, validating its applicability to both integer and fractional order dynamics.
