ACCREDITATION STANDARD FOR QUALITY SCHOOL GOVERNANCE (NABET)
By Dr.Maboob Khan Phd
BACKGROUND:
At the second Quality Council of India (QCI) National Quality Conclave in Feb 2007, Dr. APJ
Abdul Kalam, the then President of India, stressed the need for development of a standard
for the schools to ensure quality of education across the nation.
In line with his recommendation, QCI has developed the ACCREDITATION STANDARD
FOR QUALITY SCHOOL GOVERNANCE.
This standard provides a framework for the effective management and delivery of the
HOLISTIC EDUCATION program aimed at OVERALL DEVELOPMENT OF STUDENTS
OBJECTIVE OF ACCREDITATION STANDARD FOR QSG

Provide educational services that aim to enhance satisfaction levels of all
interested parties



Provide a basis for assessing, rating the effectiveness of educational
management system



Develop quality consciousness among interested parties involved in school
activities

FOCUS OF THE QSG STANDARD:

Establishes systems to enable learning, self development and improved
performance.


Encourages schools to pursue Continual Excellence



Can be used as a Self Improvement tool



For Third Party Accreditation & Certification

NEED FOR SCHOOL ACCREDITATION

Affirmation that the school is providing education that meets and exceeds
the community needs and expectations


Means of showing confidence in schools performance


ABOUT QUALITY SCHOOL GOVERNANCE STANDARD

Requirements are generic and applicable to all school regardless of type, size and
nature of educational service provided

1. What is the objective of Accreditation Standard for QSG?


2. What is Accreditation?
A public recognition of the achievement of accreditation standards by a healthcare
organization, demonstrated through an independent external peer assessment of that
organization's level of performance in relation to the standards.
3. What is the role of MAHBOOB Consultants in preparing
organizations for accreditation?
MAHBOOB Consultants acts as a catalysts to ensure:

Documents and Records are established in line with Quality School Governance
requirements


Provides and ensures awareness to all relevant personnel


Guides the organization in implementation to meet the requirements


Carries out Internal Assessment and ensures the organization is accredited.


4. What are the key benefits of the school being accredited


5. Is NABET accreditation a one-time phenomenon?
NABET accreditation is not a one-time phenomenon. Once the organization gets accredited,
accreditation shall be valid for a defined period. NABET conducts a regular surveillance of the
organization on yearly basis
