The Crossroad of Christian Sin Versus Moral Vice One is not wicked solely on the
basis that they perform wicked acts, just as one who sins is not always a sinner.
Sin covers a wide range of behaviors; but if these behaviors become habits are they
still sins? Augustine seemed to believe that sins, whether small or large, are
committed when man turns away from God. Similar to sin, Aristotle frequented the
discussion on vice, a state of excess or deficiency, with virtue being the middle
ground. As he said, We assume, then, that virtue is the sort of state that does the best
actions concerning pleasures and pains, and that vice is the contrary state (Irwin, p.
21, lines 28 29). He taught moral vice as different from vice, and having a direct
correlation with incontinence. A type of incontinence is the exorbitant desire for
bodily pleasures, such as sex. This form of incontinence is explored by Dante in
Infernoand Purgatorio, Chaucer in Canterbury Tales, and Augustine in his
Confessions in the form of lust, a topic that will be later expanded on. Incontinence is
a lack of self control, something man either has a predisposing for or not; to be

Nisei. However, the cultural differences between the Isseiand the Nisei, who were all

John Donne that were written in the 17th Century. These poems incorporate the
fundamental of something called a metaphysical conceit. Interesting though, both
poems use the metaphysical conceit to tell a story about two very opposite situation
between two partners . The Flea s metaphysical conceit is stretched along a lustful,

On Thursday, June 22, the Blythe Desert Dolphins hosted their second home swim
meet, where they competed against the Brawley Sunstrokers and the Holtville
Stingrays at the Palo Verde High School pool. The Desert Dolphins went head to
head with 34 Brawley swimmers and 13 Holtville swimmers. Making a huge
splash in the water, tough competitors from the Desert Dolphins swam hard and did
their best to take home well deserved ribbons in each category. With dynamic

Causes Of The Revolution Of 1848
The revolution of 1848 was a great disappointment to both Karl Marx and Alexis de
Tocqueville. To Marx, the revolution should have been a step along the way to
socialism, with the bourgeoisie capitalists overthrowing the previous landed feudal
society. In turn, the proletariat would rise and bring both the end of class antagonism
and the beginning of the socialist state. To Tocqueville, the revolution was about the
reduction in the power of the aristocracy, as the lower classes were on their way up.
This broadening equality must necessarily give rise to democracy, with all its hopes
and shortfalls. Yet the revolution ended not in socialismor democracy, but with an
emperor. Marx and Tocqueville may have had different ideas on how and why a
society should conduct itself, but both found the revolution of 1848 and its resolution
a disappointment. Marx takes a very materialist view of the revolution. The July

tied to the banking bourgeoisie and the laws that came out of his government were
