THREE STRATEGIC THEMES
Better
treatments
and a cure
Empowerment
to take control
Quality services
as standard
We want to make sure
everyone affected by
Parkinson’s is
connected proactively
at every stage of the
condition to the
tailored information,
support, inspiration and
local opportunities they
need to manage the
condition optimally and
life to the full.
OVERARCHING AMBITION
THE 2015-2019 STRATEGY
• Huge changes needed
• We couldn’t do it on our own
• This is our strategy for Parkinson’s,
not Parkinson’s UK
OUR DEFINITION
Maximise the potential of digital technologies to
improve the lives of people affected by
Parkinson’s
Internally: Embracing opportunities to operate
more effectively and efficiently
Externally: By looking at how we can reach,
involve and serve people affected by Parkinson’s
in new and better ways
COMPETITIVE THREATS?
THE NEED FOR STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP
A vision for the charity and the whole community
WORKING IN NEW WAYS
Annual Conference A6: Making a difference in the digital age: A leadership perspective | NCVO
BE OPPORTUNISTIC
GETTING TO GRIPS WITH DATA
ARE WE LEADING?
We’re the Parkinson’s
charity that drives better
care, treatments and quality
of life. Together we can
bring forward the day when
no one fears Parkinson’s.

Annual Conference A6: Making a difference in the digital age: A leadership perspective | NCVO

Editor's Notes

  • #3: Ask everyone to stand up Stay standing if your organisation has a team or people who manage your digital work Stay standing if your organisation has a formalised digital strategy Stay standing if you have a good knowledge of what the digital strategy is Stay standing if you feel that you own that strategy as an individual Stay standing if you could explain your digital strategy to the person sitting next to you... (or the rest of the audience!)
  • #5: It’s not surprising – digital has mostly sat in comms teams in the charity world – so we got used to talking about it in those marketing and external-broadcast terms There’s a common issue in charities that perception that digital is just another department - with its own goals, rather than an enabler for all.
  • #6: Digital is how we live and how we work. Getting it right: …can transform services …can better meet (changing) user needs …can increase efficiency Organisational and digital strategy are merging into one
  • #8: Digitally mature organisations are developing new ways of working Requires shifts across an organisation – but leadership is critical. In this session we will… Leadership insights – Steve and Rob What it means for you – discussion and questions Pulling it all together and sending you away with some practical tips - Sam
  • #10: So what were these ambitious changes? Three clear themes emerged: Better treatments and a cure Quality services as standard Empowerment to take control
  • #12: One overall thing was clear What people wanted was a real significant change to the landscape So we need ambitious goals to inspire the WHOLE Parkinson's community We couldn’t deliver this by ourselves So that’s why we wrote a strategy for Parkinson’s – for the whole condition – not just for the charity
  • #26: Supercharge Digital Innovation - Have big ideas, start small and move fast
  • #27: Your CEO is your CDO... Digital transformation starts at the top
  • #28: What is Digital Transformation?! ... Digitisation is doing the same things but digitally ... Digital Transformation is ‘Digital by Design’ i.e. is doing different things by redefining the business model
