Dear Runkle Families, I write to you as the co-chair of the Runkle PTO Annual Fund, but also as a Runkle Parent and Alumna. My husband Jim and I are relatively new Runkle parents — my son is in first grade and my daughter will begin kindergarten next year — but I look forward to being an active, engaged member of this community for many years. Runkle played a huge part in our decision to move back to Brookline to raise our children. My own fond memories of childhood are inextricably linked with the relationships that I formed at Runkle: hanging out with friends in Dean (Waldstein) Park, eating Pino’s Pizza, running the (now defunct) kissing booth the Halloween Fair, trick-or-treating on Clark Road, ice-skating at Larz Anderson, and singing in the 8th grade musical. I think a lot about the relationships and community that my own children will build during their time here, and I am so grateful to be a part of it again as a parent. The work of the Runkle PTO is exclusively focused on building and supporting our incredible community of families. Whether or not you participate in the PTO-funded resources for parents, your child benefits every single day from the grants, events, and teacher and classroom resources funded by the Runkle PTO Annual Fund. Inside this brochure is a list of PTO-funded initiatives. Your annual contribution to the PTO Annual Fund makes all of this possible. We hope you will share your Runkle story with other families and encourage them to support the PTO as well.
