The project aims to develop and promote a decentralized renewable biomass energy technology to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and meet rural energy needs in villages in Tumkur District, Karnataka. It involves demonstration of biogas and biomass gasification systems providing 1.2 MW of power. The project is funded through 2022 with a budget of 40.06 crore rupees from government and international organizations. It aims to provide energy to 2500 households and farmers as well as create employment.

- 2. Project Mission The mission of the project is to develop, promote and implement through participatory approaches, a decentralized, cost-effective, renewable and sustainable bio-energy technology package to reduce Green House Gas emissions and also to meet rural energy requirements.

- 8. Project Details Planning & Feasibility study suggested to run a 1 MW Biomass gasifier plant , 4.2 tonnes/Ha/Year on a 3000 Ha land was required. Implementation stage – Tree plantation was done in 2930 Ha (1983 Ha of forest land and 947 Ha of farm land) (30 households employed in this farming)
